as per the heading - is there an easy way to take of the colored finish of anodised alloy parts? Thanks

Oven cleaner.
That'll strip the annodising tho.

really? Thats what I want to do - get the color off! which brand of oven cleaner?

bear in mind it will also strip the anticorrisive coating, depending on the part you may want to coat it or spray it with clear

Thats what I was getting at.
Follow the instructions for how to polish a frame on the homepage of this site.
Any oven cleaner should do. Dont leave it on till it dries however.

You need caustic soda mate...but be warned only leave bits in for a short amount of time...a lot less than you think or it will pit the ali.
Best is for about 1 minute at a time, take it out and rinse...don't just chuck it in and leave it over night....

Same, I used a mild mix of caustic soda & water - only took a few minutes, keep a close eye on it

i have hydrochloric acid at home (use it when I run out of Johnny Red) can I use that?

sometimes the dishwasher works, depending on the sealer used.

fuck me! - I had my doubts but they have been proven wrong!
Hit it with some Mr Muscle oven cleaner, a quick polish with autosol and voila!!
Happy happy happy - no more blue bits
