Hey all, im new here, dont really know where to go to post a build page where i can update along the way but hey. i picked up a cx650 sports today for $100, yes i said $100. the story goes, the owner tied it on his 1 tonne ute and drove down the road while swallowing a few heavies along the way. dimwit forgot to tie it down properly and the cx decided to go walkabouts off his ute.. needless to say all gadges/plastics/ and the tank is beyond repiar but the rest of the bike is as if it just came from the showroom floor. his freind then brought it off him with big plans to "do it up" but it sat in his shed for 2 yrs. then today i came along to his garage sale and snatched it from him. so.... where else would i turn beside ASF to fighter this beast. if anyone can give me directions to where i should be posting this and photos etc in future it would be much appreciated. ill be giving detailed photos and discriptions of what i do in the future, i have big plans for this beast. peace out.

thanks guys, this will probly become my new home. but i have a problem. this bike is in awesome condition except one thing. the rear air shock is stuck (probably bent) from the cart wheel it supposably done. swing arm is fine and moves freely. i cant seem to find somewhere that i couldeither get it fixedor buy a new/secondhand one. another option is just replacing it with a normal shock if i can find one with the right dimentions and bracket fixtures. any info would be good. im moving my 2 posts to the build forum that Gitzy posted for me,thanks. And then posting photos in the next day or two.

I'm sure there was a half respectable C500 cafe racer in one of the picture threads, just can't find it now. Was that one of your Gitzy?

THAT OLD CX500 LOOKS PHATT
That looks friggen awsome :D
hey johnny, make it like that one (see above), but black and white with a turbo. and as for your shocky problem, if you have the cash handy why not "do it right the first time" and replace both with some modern reputable shocks and save money in the long run

That's wasn't the one, it was black and a bit more stripped back, but pretty similar.

yeah i thought cafe racer but the cx650 has such a looong swing arm,it would be a waste to have it covered with plastics. my plans are if u look at my bike naked above to cut the rear off and replace it with a smaller frame, which would be adjustable up and down to what ever size suits, but the support arm running down to the foot peg i was going to move the tubular pipe upto the hole that the old platics fitted into (directly above foot pegs), its a pipe going strait threw the frame that the top of the shocky holds onto. and ive already removed the airbox and battery box, thus clearing up everything under the tail. so if ur imagining this rite there should be nothing under the tail but a tyre, with the tail raised alittle. i had alook yesterday and reorganised where the rear brake cylinder would go and getting removeable pillion pegs made up.
i dunno how but i ran into a guy that custom fabricates anything steel or anything workable. so i may be getting alotof personalised funky stuff done threw him,
sry for the long post but i have lots of ideas going crazy in my head.lol i think its called the fighter bug...
ok also im powdercoating my frame white and getting allthe original chrome accessories redone. but i may source a different tank for the beast and was thinking about making my own scoup ferrings to sit from the radiator over the heads to the frame and link my airbox pipe around to it. (one on both sides). yea i know kinda harly style, and im not one for harlys but.. i have a vision lol. im doing the bike the new mazda 3 red, which is kind of sunrise red with a bit heavier metalic red over it. so in the end it will be white chrome and red as the primary clours and most of the engine will stay black, to make the white and chrome stick out a bit more.
any suggestions or critisism on the scoup idea or colours. or any of my plans[:p] all suggestions would be taken into consideration as i want this bike as sexy as it can be. i believe the 80's are back!!
as for the newer forks and rear suspention, what would be suitable as im one for cornering so i need something not to expensive (as the bike probably isnt worth as much as a set of forks) but something that would out perform the current 80's forks. im also ripping the centre stand and getting smaller exhausts made for it so i can lean her over alot more then you can at the moment.
ok i think thats enough to reading for now, let me know your thoughts, good or bad, all is good advice.[^]

ok heres a few more pics, one is the bike with no tail just to show you how much swing arm there is, another is with the tail raised little bit with an undertail exhaust, dual of course out of each head. i got stuck into the fueltank today, its a little easier then i thought it would be considering its my first panel beating job. ill posts pics of it up when its done. let me know what u think about my tail and under tail exhaust thought.

haha,go for it gitzy. ok tank turned out awesome. i finished it last night, just need to mig it back together.it has a little rust in side but nothing severe. it seems to me this bike was only just full resto'd when it fell of the ute. pitty really for him. but good for me cos the engine is healthy. im starting a search for a cheap replacement rear shock for it now, then ill get to work on the tail. after that the frame is going in to be powder coated white :D

Silly idea I know but how about keeping this build in just the 'Your ride' section instead of having 2 threads about the same bike build ?
If you want I can morph the 2 threads together so nothing gets lost.
