now being a mechanic, i come across rounded bolts and i discovered these little beauties from snap on there not cheap ,,but fuck there good ,they grab on the flat sides of the bolt the harder you push the harder hey bite and ive never found a rounded bolt or fucked allen key they cant get out ,cheershttp://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1268988327.jpg

Awesome bike lift mate. Those bloody Jacks give me nightmares, nasty pieces of work they are, but 2 together overcomes the ol' rollover whilst right up high problemo.

do u crank em up at the same time?
One pic they aren't joined and another pic it looks like theres a threaded rod all the way thru the both of em. I'v got about 10 of those fuckers outside my shed I keep rolling my ankles on em at night:(

on uneven ground there total poo ,but for this job there perfect. as its on a flat surface, both of these jacks are rated at 750kgs each .so i think a stationary bike should be safe

i got 2 jacks both the same size and welded the thread from the 1st jack into the winder part of the 2nd jack so both wind up together, its very stable,

A streetfightered bike lift lol!

What was the thought process you went through to set it up? Did you have to make dead sure that the tops were exactly level before joining the winding rods etc?

I'm going to make a couple of these myself, and I'd love to know what to be aware and learn from your mistakes.

,it took me one go your lookin at it i made it 2 years ago when i had a zxr750,h1,,then cut those mounts off and welded on new ones for the gsxr1100w,just make sure there both the same size and the same amount of threads sticking out there ends,i used scrap from under my bench to join them ,weld the thread to the winding mechanism of the 2nd jack tack weld in case u fuck it up ,also measure th width of your frame ,good luck cheers

[8D]I HAD A THOUGHT SINCE I POSTED THIS LINK WAS TO WELD THE JACKS TO A 10 MILL STEEL PLATE SAY 500 X 250 THEN THERES NOT HOPE OF FAILURE FROM FALLING OVA PLUS WIT THE WEIGHT IT WOULD BE SUPER STABLE CHEERS

it scares me thinking of the busted knuckles and the time it takes winding the bastard up. im happy to pay $200 not to have to wind a stand up lol

nah, the way i have had em fail on me is when the start to fold sideways (so in a forward/backwards direction the way you have then under the bike)
all the pivots go to jelly

but you've left yourself a fair safety factor there LOL

RevHead

i made sure the jacks were tight at the pivot points ,i had the same worries im going to build another version of the lift this week ,to allay everyones fears,

I wouldn't mind making one using the air jacks I used when doin a bit of work with a mobile mechanic - fuckin thing just about tossed small cars in the air though - lifted up trucks and everything was fuckin sick

If the front brake is locked on wouldn't that prevent any forward/backward movement of the bike anyway?

(Oh, and revhead: Typing in ALLCAPS is the equivalent to SHOUTING on a forum, and it's considered bad nettiquette, just FYI)

sorry bout the capitals that wont happin again,,actually didn know that ,cheers,,.ive had my bike up on it for 3 weeks with no wheels on her and it didnt move also i fitted up the front wheel today and the bike stayed perfectly still, and if front or rear brakes were locked ,it will be safer ,,
