View Full Version : Are my lines too close?

IS there a recommended distance to keep you braided lines and fitting from the headers.
Mine are more or less 1mm from the headers and i think its contributing to the bike over heating when stopped in traffic.

Its probably hard to tell from these photos but u get an idea of how close they are.

that's why they're braided mate, the rubber ones stock on my speedy sit the same distance and fuckin melted through!

They're still rubber under the braiding, heat soak through the braiding will have the same effect.
I think they are too close.

Im sure they won't melt but I can't help but think it has a negative effect on cooling, especially on the outlet of the cooler. Which side is that btw? Left or the right on a gixxer 1100?

I doubt the oil would be in that area long enough to cause any dramatic increase in temp.

Been running mine that close for over 5 years. Davo's even used to touch. I have about 3 mm clearance and have ridden it thousands of miles in all weathers. The only time it would ever become a consideration at that distance is if you were doing a massively long burnout. The airflow from moving keeps them cool on naked bikes. Not only that you have the joint next to it, I have the actual mesh, you should have even less to worry about.
