get a factory pro kit stage 3.

put the screws back to there stock position before you changed them.

put in either the 145 or 150 main jets that come with the stage 3 kit.

follow instructions in kit as they are very accurate. for best results final tune it on the dyno

then enjoy. at the moment you bike is running super lean.

welcome

thanks i,ll raise the needles to compansate for the lack of fuel and ,hopefully the needle kit wont be to far away,,another thing is when my bike was stock it would blow 1,2 metre flames out the muffler when i back off ,,any ideas

Does that cause much damage to your motor?

Nope, holes in your pistons makes your bike lighter.

yeah super lean means melted pistons,as the fuel to air mixture is reversed with so much air that the air is super heated ,then it causes the pistons to melt, forgot t say im a mechanic, but havent done much engine tuning on bikes cheers

As Deano said. The kit should sort it out perfectly, this was a common thing to do to the old carbied Gixers.

Hey pete can you let me know what you get in your kit. I think I was missing a couple of sets of jets. I'm especially interested in what pilot jet they give u.

Deano
16-03-2010, 09:02 PM
from memory you don't get a pilot. just run the standard jet

Seifer
16-03-2010, 09:04 PM
Well I got a pilot, it was a 32.5, only my standard one is a 40 so im confused which one to run.
This is from the factory pro kit.

anyone got a link to find the stage 3 jet kit as the bike shop up here is having trouble finding them cheers

Deano
23-03-2010, 08:49 PM
i brought it direct from factory pro. talk to marc he is brilliant.

just use the info @ email addy from memory.

my kit was custom made that might be why i didn't get the pilot jets so he allowed me to buy direct. may not allow you to if it is a straight forward sale.

or contact USA dealers and see if they will send direct to you

So are the pilots bigger or smaller?
I've always had to go up at least 4 - 5 sizes with pods.
ie 40 to 52's ( not 100% sure on numbers)
Seifer's comment surprised me a bit.

Seifer
25-03-2010, 11:32 AM
Well yeah, Ive put the 32.5's in and find it pops a bit on the overrun, but Ive got a leak in the exhaust system so for now im putting it down to that.

livewire

I found too lean on pilots made for a flat spot at about 6000 rpm, which is where pilots work up to.
But I spose if they come in a kit they'd be right.
Scratching my head. Little (lot) older, little wiser.

what are the Pros/Cons of doin this on an efi system

livewire
28-03-2010, 10:35 AM
More air flow/ less restriction.
But should note that doing it will change inlet tract length, which may not neccessarily
be a good thing.
I do calculations on 'engine analyser pro' software to spec up motors, there are significant gains to
be had with matched inlet/ cam/ exhaust combinations.
I suspect the man in Japan does the same when he designs 'stockys', and quite possible to stuff it up,
by mismatching things.
Shorter generally raises the revs for peak torque, hence more horsepower. Should also shorten exhaust primaries to match.
Also, more horsepower not always 'faster'. More 'usable' horsepower is.

You can do it without the kit. You just need a selection of jets. Kits are fine as a starting point but it's cheaper to just buy the individual jets that you want. You can find them on ebay as well as being able to get them through any motorcycle shop.

I've never liked the kits as I reckon every application is unique. It depends on the pipe you're running as much as it does the pod filters. The best way to check is to do some 'plug chop' tests (or put it on a dyno).

Repco are useless at the best of times. Find a good motorcycle shop if you can. I'm at the southern end of the mid north coast. I know that doesn't help much but if you're ever down here call in and say g'day. I'd be glad to have a look at it for ya. If it's any help at all Fineline Motorcycles at Taree are pretty good and will get stuff in for you. I've ordered parts for bikes from the 1970's and gotten them no problem.
