The problem is that there are a bunch of very valid statistics that show that motorcycling has a much higher fataility rate than driving cars. Once that's seen as a problem, which they do, then they need a solution because they can't be seen to just accept the problem.

Seriously, how much would something like mandatory ABS reduce the rider toll? You'd think it would have some impact on the numbers. I'm loath to go into the 100 bhp limit because logic says it will reduce fatalities, I just want to be able to make that call myself rather than a pollie

You have got to remember "stats" can say whatever the researcher wants to say or whatever organisation who is paying for the research wants to say.
...... and theres always the plain made up stats or doctored figures.

The biggest problem with restricting bikes is they would have to stop people tuning or derestricting them.
That means they would have to totally ban the modification and tuning of bikes !

So although a 100bhp limit sounds very reasonable and plausible in their terms, in our terms it would be a major disaster !

Politicians are 100% not to be trusted gentlemen.

What they cannot achieve by direct action and force (because of public reaction), they will slime in under the backdoor bit by bit.

The vast majority of bikers follow the rules here.
We have a very small island covered in millions of surviellance camera`s to pick up every minor technical misdemeanour you make.
Throw in an over zealous police farce who have monthly quotas for doing bikers and use plenty of 2 & 4 wheel police vehicles in plain wrappers to harrass us.
The penalties are way ott for things like small license plates, no road tax or MOT, race cans, dark visors. They can hang you with very many generic "do you for anything they want laws".

Loss of license in the UK means you are 100% fucked.
A few small tickets can very easily mean a 12 month ban under totting up procedures.

Ride without one ? Yeah... they will scan your plate using the ANPR cameras and confiscate your bike and then crush it, no arguement.

Sorry to wibble on ;) but being a tiny bit radical comes at a price if you wanna chance it.

Me, I don`t give a flying fuck, race only exhaust, solid black visor and terminally loose number plate, which is too small anyway.
