Hey all
Im Bocky and have been out of the bike scene for about 13 years. I have always liked suzukis and have recently bought a 87/88 black and gold gsxr1100 as a project. I am going to buy a newer 1100w and transfer every thing over. I would like to know what will fit and with the least amount of mods. Then surplus to my needs are the following; the forks, complete wheels and discs, brakes, and the instrument cluster

Nothing will be a straight swap on those two models, they were too far apart. But saying that, it will be minimal work. You'll find it easier just to transplant the rear wheel and make some spacer than the entire swinger as far as I remember and as for the front, should just be a stem press into the newer clamps.

I'll move this to the advice area and let the guys who've done that swap tell you.

welcome bocky , i've got a 88-1100 and just sold a 87-1100 , the 90-91 usd is a simple swap that can use up to '97 i think 6 spot calipers with corresponding back wheel/brake caliper

Hi Bocky, welcome indeed

I'm on a similar path to you, taking my 88 slabbie and modernifying it. I got some Slingy wheels and a Bandit12 front end through this forum which were relatively straight forward to drop in. I was originaly looking for a slingy donor (I needed a motor as well) but they are too hard to find at a decent price so I ended up getting a wrecked Bandit instead for $1,000 and dropped its motor in. I also put a R6 shock in to replace the stock pogo-stick, $60 well spent.

I haven't screwed with the stock instruments so not sure how easy they are to swap over

cheers
d

Forks and rear wheel went straight in.
As for putting a W 1100 swingarm in it will be a big job. Got to make new mounts for the suspension. Slabby and Slingshot are completely different in the rear.

750w front end bolts straigh in,1100w bolt straigh in but the forks are a bit on the long side.1100 oilcool are a perfect lenght.a w swingarm will fit you just need to take the internal swingarm spacers of your bike and put them inside the w arm.as for the shock you will need a linkage from a bandit you might have to shave a bit of your frame (2mm each side of where the linkage fits)but all goes good then you make your own dog dones
