I'm still yet to do my own service on the bike since I bought it (it's been taking regular trips to the mechanics, so i've had him do it for me since he had it).
I'm no stranger to services, but what i'm curious about is what engine oil you guys use? For those who don't know, I have a '00 ZX6R.

I have always used Shell VSX4 (The Fully synthetic one) in all my bikes except one, only reason being, My uncle swore by it every 5000kms RF900 Still going strong with 130000kms and mates 01 R1 60000kms still strong.. figured cant go wrong.. up until recently though VSX4 is now mineral/synthetic blend.. so I switched to Shell Ultra 4 which when i rang the guy at shell say is basically the new version of the old VSX4 and they reblended the new VSX4 with mineral oil to fill a void in there market.. the only exception was when i bought my new Triumph, the triumph boys soley recommended synthetic mobil oil, so i used it with not a problem. but at the end of the day, i know fook all about oil this is just my 2 cents..

I know fuck all about oil as well, but i`ve changed my oil every 3000km from new, i`ve now got 110000km on my bandit and it still pulls like a 13 year old boy. so i recon regular oil changes is the secret. Clean blood, clean heart.

Just a little dribble to go in to the mix, if you've been using mineral oils in a bike for a
while going synthetic can bring out leaks, Not that its a biggie, from what i've been told by
people in the know (mostly drag racers some pro) synthetic oils tend to penatrate gaskets that have
been soaked in mineral oils. They both have pros and cons , if you change your oil below 4000 ks it
doesnt make much difference what you use.

i use castrol GPS power 1 semi synthetic. i figure the motor it is going into was never designed with full synthetic oils in mind so no point putting it in.

BTW it is also what castrol recommend
