Boys and Girls

am wanting to change the front end on the viffer and looking for some advice as to what set up to use. Like the upside down set up and im thinking to stick with the Honda parts (say a CBR or VTR front end) as they may be a similar fit in the triples...

Otherwise, Can I just change the fork tubes and yolks or do I need to replace the entire front. I wasnt going to as the viffer front end is fine and performs to my riding ability, but after deciding to get a new set of yolks made, i thought I may as well price up and asses the difficulty factor of both options.

Your expertise is sought and appreciated

You can make anything fit anything in my book..
if your getting triples made, get them to suit the VFR stem and bearing setup but then also get them
made to accomodate what forks you like..
ie, black R1 forks with gold spot brakes 02 onwardsish would look the nuts on your bike.. 50mm upper leg 54mm lower leg dimensions
then mate your existing wheel to it via axle and spacers etc etc..
dont limit yourself to just honda at the end of the day not many blokes can pick what your front end came off, as long as you like it then your tip top.. ebay is your friend.. and shop worldwide.

this is a pic of brother inlaws VTR Firestorm with 06 gixer thou forks and yoke setup, easy stem and bearing swap..

Also when youre changing your front end setup, seriously take your time and shop for what you want, in the last year i've bought 3 fork setups .. all for different bikes all with great outcome.. you've come this far and the VFR is lookin ace Anton, keep going mate and make it different..

Also i forgot to mention there is some things to take into consideration, but def ask around here some of these guys will def know.. but the trail and rake measurements and fork length etc all come into play and someguys are picky with this stuff. me not so much.. the bandit conversion dropped 45mm from standard, but it looks great and steers better so i'm happy. skys the limit mate, or your wallet but once youre done you'll be happy as...

hit the Phantom up and pick his brain to see what he did with his conversion too..

I remember reading on Custom Fighters that a 929/954 front is a DIRECT bolt in to a VTR. Probably the same for your VFR is that's the case.

I think Hillsy is right there, only reason we went Gixer thou front end on bros VTR was we couldnt source a decent enough 929/954 and when we did they wanted silly money for them, so for a little more playing around the gixer was chosen at right price plus the added bonus of radial calipers as opposed to axials not that there bad just radials looked better in our book, but yeah for sure if you can find 929/954 front end snap em up.. patience..

heres some 02 954 forks a little pricey but this is the same shop i got all my gixer fork parts for the bandit, excellent shipping etc..

fark - thats a shit load of info so far - Will have to have a good read tonight. I know one thing, If i can get a set of tubes that are 40mm shorter than mine, I can get away with shorter risers on the yolk. Thanks Gitzy for the info - I hope I get a lot more info on this as now im leaning more towards it =)

im better of not looking at the bloody 929/954 forks - they look old fashioned and waay overpriced - i used to buy them mint around $250 (from usa, naturally), also bought a new complete 08' cbr600rr complete front end (cept the wheel): legs tripples calipers complete cliponswith switches and throttle for $650, and thats much modern design, radial mounted calipers [8D]

but wat id really buy in ur place Anton r the evil black anodized gixxers forks, they r fuckin gorgeous (steve irvine's word [:p] standing for smth of reptile i guess) and also agree with ur bikes colour [8D]

..was also thinking for the meantime to put in a heavier oil, and maybe change the springs...Any advice on this would be a help :)
