no , but ur better off replacing just the triple clamps and keeping the head stem shaft. ( u might be able to press the old shaft into the new clamps )bearings should be a problem to find for the old headstock.....
Hope this is what u meant,......

Thanx for reply...I was a little vague, on my way out the door earlier, sorry. I have an '03 750 front end in the bike now and have picked up an '06 1000 front end recently.I had to use the '87 stem in the '03 triple clamp, works just fine. There are bearing sets some guys around here are using to swap Gixxer front ends into SV'S. I was just curious if anybody knew of a slam dunk bearing set for the '06 stem to just plug into the '87 headstock, it has tapered roller bearings.I don't want to push the stem out of the '06 lower clamp if it's not neccesary. Hope I'm making sense. thanx!

nice bike man, does it really weight 280lbs? or did you mean 380? If so thats seriously impressive. thats lighter then my drz400.
as far as the bearing set goes. If i remember correctly the bottom bearing has a larger ID then the top bearing on the 1000stem right? I dont have either of those fronts so i dont know what their sizes are but if you have some dimmensions I can do a bit of digging, sorry i dont know off the top of my head.
Oh and welcome, im on the other side of the states in VA.

Hey thanx bud!...It's right around 280-290 lbs.- I've never put it on a scale but suzuki says the frame weight is around 19 or 20 and i've eliminated the subframe...the motor weight is around 150, shipped an '05 1000 Gixxer motor that weighed 140 ''crated'',so that number has to be close, can't see where the front end can be much more than 45 or 50...swingarm w/ rim and tire is right around 35 or 40, tailpiece is fiberglass(2 layers of cloth, made it myself),and probably under a pound, it's just a very thin shell, tank empty is around 15...plus H.bars and such.No instruments of any kind. Don't need no stinking speedo.Of course that is an approx.figure but i think it's fairly realisic. You are correct about the lower bearing...I am hoping to run across somebody who just happens to have the info I need to try and save some leg work, figured it can't hurt to ask around. If you happen to just stumble onto that info please let me know. PEACE

Not 100% sure on this, but I believe all you need is your stock lower bearing, and the top bearing for the SV mod, found here:
http://www.twinworksfactory.com click on "SV Mods"
Pretty sure the stem is same diameter at the bottom (30mm), and the sv mod bearing accepts the larger diameter (30mm) at the top (stock is 26mm). Again, not 100%, but 95 or so.. :D
Hope this is what you're looking for.
