Hey Dave, welcome to the madness mate. What are those wheels you have on it mate? I had a '77 model Z650 and the wheels were nothing like that. The old girl used to get some punishment as well but never missed a beat.

Hey Guys,
Im in Redcliffe, I am hanging out for a ride, bike has not beem ridden in ages while I converted her to fuel injection.I have it running on the FI but havnt ridden on the road, still sorting out return from Press reg back to tank, should be real soon tho.
The wheels are off of a gsxr (400 I think) back wheel is an 18" and front is 17" (Will get hold of a 17 one day)[8D]

Cheers

Dave

Hey Bohemion,
Im just next door to LOL, what are you riding?
I have just fitted the FI from A ZX1100A3, I have the bike running in the garage, and will start tuning on the road shortly:D
I should be pretty interesting , I can tune while riding using an old palm that I have mounted to the l/h mirror. i have also made up a DIY Techedge WB02 that I will also mount on the bars to get the AFR right, once thats done I will put the narrow band O2 sensor back in the pipe.

Cheers

DAve

very nice example. A long time to have kept a bike. Why fit FI, is it a engineering exersise or will it produce more power than that of the carbs.
Keep up the good work and let us know how you get on.

Both, the poblem with old carbs is they suck:( it was also a challenge to see if someone as electrically challanged as I am coud build and fit a DIY ecu[?]

Since '79! Mate, that's nearly 30 years!! And it looks to be in top condition, too. How the hell did you do it?
Welcome mate. I got an '81 z750. When i bought it it was fucked! I also got rid of the carbs and fuel injected it with GPZ 900 injection system. After i fitted the injection system the motor ran really well in the garage but shithouse on the road. I found that the computer was set too rich so i had it modified to run leaner. I don't know anything about the old injection computers so i have no idea what they did to it. Anyway hope you have better luck with yours. Let us know how you go.

Hey willow, its been rebuilt 3 times since 79, been stolen and recovered etc, i always have some thing that I want to do to it, lol. Ive recently got a basket case GPZ900r that I will start working on in the near future once I have the 650 tuned etc and the house reno finished. Just collecting parts at the moment, I have a set of wheels so far, 3 spoke but rear is an 18 )so is the 650s) so I wont have a huge selection of tyres but I guess I can live with that. :D

HI Willow,
Your FI install sounds interssting, I am not using the original Kawasaki ECU, I using a megasquirt ecu which is a kit that you assemble, it is fully adjustable using a laptop or one of the older palms that still have serial comunication. All of the programs are available on the net and they have just come up with an Autotune option that will set the ve table up as you ride although you need a wide band o2 setup to tune the high RPM bins safely.

Cheers

Dave

That sounds pretty good. Can you tell me where you got the ecu. I've still got a few small probs to sort out and the megasquirt may be the answer.

Have a look at WWW.msefi.com all teh info is there. I have bought 3 so far, the one that is on my bike I bought through a group buy, the other 2 I bought from DIY auto tune in the states and they shipped them out, only took 6 days. There is a new one coming out shortly that has been designed maimly for bikes and it willl only be sold assembled due to its size(approx the size of a credit card)although the car guys are showing a lot of interest as well
