I'v been poking around looking at all these awesome turbo bikes, and wondering to my self, has anyone seen any supercharged bikes, I think somewhere I saw one (not sure if it was a v twin or not) with a small roots type blower, jammed on top and some kind of dodgy setup to run it, Got me thinking about centrifugal superchargers and if it was even possible.

Been a few in SF mag over the years.
GSX14,Triumph (Daytona?) and now Dodges Busa spring to mind.

Sean at BigCC Racing has got into superchargers in the last year.
They are using the Procharger which is gear driven, Seans oto them up over 500 rwhp already !!!
Fukkin mad bikes !

Power is linear and proportional to engine revs.
More revs = more power ? Easy.
They make very useable road bikes with masses of predictable power.

Example: I can sit mine at 60mph in 6th gear. Winding the throttle
very hard will see smooth and glitch free acceleration through 180mph and beyond, no hiccups, no hesitancy, it just fucks off.
Jet turbine style from 60 through 180 bloody fast [:p][:p]

goddam!. That LPG one is the one I was thinking.
Kind of curious as to why he chose LPG tho..

If I had the time and money I'd definately turbo the shit out of my zx9 - I have a spare top mount stocko intercooler from a wrx. which looks like a perfect size, and DID have both a CT12 (toyota?) and VF39 turbo with the before mentioned WRX (the VF 39 was apparently holding the car back to 202.5kw @ 17psi - and went with the rest of the shit heap when I sold it on for a mate) I gave the CT12 away - looked like a perfect sized turbo for a bike and the guy was a douche bag in the end so I'm spewin.

What is involved with being able to have a pulley on the end of the crank to spin the supercharger?

I know if you go forcing a shitload of boost thru a stock engine your asking for trouble, but apart from perhaps shimming the head to drop the compression down, do you really have to go for purpose made forged pistons and all that other shit (an entire rebuild I'm guessing) just to be able to run a decent amount of usable (not - ridiculous) boost through a stock engine? those japs build their shit pretty tough I hear..

Any 4 stroke motor will handle 5/6 PSI all day every day...

Mr LPG runs his supercharges ZX11 in germany, he said he saves 200+ euro a month by running LPG over petrol. He has a build up on bigbikeworld if anyone is interested.

Sims & Roms used to make them years ago for GSXRs.

Mike Matthews used to run a supercharged GSXR-750 powered midget sprint car about 15 odd years, electronic EFI, if I remember correctly he had one huger injector on the intake of the supercharger and one smaller one on each inlet...tho the "supercharger" was a cabin compressor from a Cesna or something along those lines. Gotta watch out for the Kiwis they're damn smart.

I'm currently working out the details to compress my GPX600, Mid size car turbo
compressor extensivly modded with a internal very high ratio belt drive stepup
and a computer controled magnetic slipper clutch. Alowing a preset boost level
to be maintained from idle to redline (with a great deal of trial n error even
after extensive head scrattching!) Funny enough the electronics clutch and drive
from motor are all easy shit , its managing to get a belt drive gearbox to work
at speeds upwards of 150,000 rpm and not self destruct thats tricky !

Here's that blower i told you about Red...

Thanks latheboy, I could go the easy option and use there compressor and fit my magnetic clutch to it
but there a little on the pricy side for what they are, also a little on the large size for my aplication.
And they dont have the step up i need, I'm looking at around 100 to 1 stepup to give great boost at idle and up,
using a magnetic slipper clutch to prevent overboost and over speed at redline motor rpms.

I prob should mention the magnetic clutch isn't an on/off affare its a variable torque arrangment
with proportial control and very fast reaction times allowing from a few watts of transmitted power
to 15 kw but never directly conected, preventing backfire being transmitted back through the belt drive.
