picked her up today at the auctions , shes a 1995 vfr750 unknown k's as no dash , forks and wheels straight , no dents in the tank , its got brand new tyres with nipples still attached , all plastics are farked but who wants them , oil coolers bent but its a gay one anyway , and for $800 bucks i couldnt complain , now to sell the hyo to fund this build got plans in my head just got to get cracking

Jammy fucker! you had a rite result there mate, nice one!
I've seen some super cool upswept zorsts for those on ebay.
Now first things first and chuck a car wheel on the back and
sell the Viffar wheel, you'll get loads-a-muney for it, and have
a huge choice of car wheels to pick from.

Nice one Scotty, got it for the reserve price I see, good buy that one! hope it turns out good for you!

I was there just before the auction started, didn't see you there? looks like Tom got involved from the pics.

Let me know if you need anything machining, the Haas CNC is up and running now!

well i picked her up from toms last night and after 20 mins of farking around with the worlds dumbest tiedowns i got it home , now shes on the table this morning had a bit of a look at her and really its just comsetic only the oil cooler has a twist and the radiator , the worst bit is the wiring that has been torn up and the plugs ripped of i really need to hunt up a wiring diagram , so once it cools down a bit later ill get into dismantling the plastics

the one and only time a centre stand is cool

the fittings for the oilcooler that mount to the engine supply and return does anyone know if there a standard like fitting what there called im guessing its just a o-ring seal behind the flange , that way i can refit with a threaded fitting and make some hoses up for a different remote cooler

wells shes at her knickers now , just to tidy up all the bits hanging off and start the transformation

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1267447393.jpg

next thing is hunt up a front end nothing wrong with the one on it but i want USD forks and i think im gonna go clip ons , so ill sell the front end complete and the only other parts worth selling are the original seat and subframe , out back im thinking something pointy (stabby as tom and i described it) i really like the R6 tail but its been done , k7 gixxer tail done to so i was thinking 06 z1000 prob has been done too other than that tom offer to make me a one off

did some research seems that CBR 929 and 954 are a bolt in front end with only mods to steering stops so thats what im looking for

19-04-2010, 11:29 PM
not a great deal has been going on lately , took the old busted plastic down to morrys work place motor cycle masters ti see if he was interested in any of it before i put it in the bin and he swapped me the plastics for a rear set for the vfr and a starter solenoid for the hyo those blokes are legends , forks removed ready for the cbr front end that i will hopefully pick up on fri from masters , get the tyres peeled off the rims so i can get rid of them read for mitchy pilots , still keen for a car rim but i really dont want offset so it limits me to 6 or 6.5 rim width and there impossible to find , once the fronts in its loom chop , dash then the tail section

note : awesome use of bar stool for support , there always there when ya need them

hyofighter

nar not in that house put an offer on a different one , still need to sell this one

hyofighter
16-05-2010, 06:52 PM
well i needed the barstool back and the front end has been siting there for to long ready to got in i think it was a bit of dirt fever as i have found myself getting lost in the bush on the CRM in my spare time , from never owning a honda i now have two im not sure if this socially accepted but i own a hyosung so it can only get better

so i put the front end in and luckly someone has previously put taper roller bearings in the vfr getting rid of the ball race and they fitted the CBR stem like a bum in a bucket , the whole front end slid right in as i was told as easy as the only thing that need some attention is the steering stops as the forks at full lock touch the radiator but i drill and tap the original stops and put a long grub screw in them and adjust the depth till is right , easy fix

shes starting to look the goods now , i got some wicked clip on fork mounts and just had to make some bars , i like the look of the clipons with the big tank of the viffer looks a bit cafeish so im thinking a TL1000S tail section with the single seat cowl will give it a modern cafe look with its big hump , what do yas think ???

gday scotty

I've got an mt03 light at home - 99 EURO from ebay germany and think it was 34 Euro for postage

I'm looking at the bracket situ - have been onto Spiegler USA to ask if they are sold seperate to the LSL urban light setup they have which is the kit with the light and the brackets for 500 or so bucks which makes it a tad expensive

hyofighter
06-06-2010, 10:52 PM
bit of an update , not a lot going on lately but trying to hide alot of the crap and rerouting some of the wiring , desnorkelling of the airbox opened up a large area behind the front of the frame some where i can relocate the coils for the front cylinders and a place for the fuse box to go , and in removal of some of the brackets today found me having to remove a engine mount bolt which is no biggy until it pulled the thread out of the block .... bugger , but its true its hard to make a naked vfr look good

hyofighter
13-07-2010, 11:06 PM
so the hyo sold , off to motorcycle masters hope fully on fri to get a heap on parts and to suss out some tail sections , im still keen on a TL1000s with the single seat cowl as its high and roundish and sort of suits the large tank on the viffer to give it a bit of a retro cafe racer style , i still like some of the german up swept tails and the r6 tail but its all been done

opinions please

maybe gixxer tail with the indcators built in but its been done too

nick76
14-07-2010, 06:11 PM
I always thought the R6 rear end was the nicest around, but i think that has be beaten by the way sext Aprilia RSVR rear end.
Pity they are not easily/cheaply found yet.

hyofighter
17-07-2010, 12:19 AM
so i went to motorcycle masters today , and what a bunch of legends they are , the guys there looked after me coz moz said so (love bites were discussed but luckly they wernt needed) i picked up a nice set of levers zx10 brake master and TLR clutch master , the clutch master has a bit of corrosion but it was given to me so if it cleans up ill use it if not ill chase up another

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1279358987.jpg

then set about to find a tail the boys let me get amoungst the wrecks and trawl through till i found some thing that caught my eye , after searching the hundreds of parts and wreck i found this honda vtr sp2 tail , not your usual fighter selection but is less ugly than the TL-S tail i was wanting but still had nice curves for the retro cafefighter style im wanting

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1279299369.jpg

once home quick bodgy fit up to see how she looks , i reackon it would give a jelly fish a horn , also had a sweet undertail already

time for a update , last few months not alot been happening as was working my ass off and saving for our drivimg holiday east to deni and the rest of the time was prepping the ute for the trip , but now im back and is time to get back ing to this thing as it sits now , not alot has changed

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288213818.jpg

picked up a vtr sp2 front gaurd is shorter at the back and bolts up the same but i like the look of it

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288244375.jpg

i picked up these set of lights off watto there sachs madass lights joined side by side and got the mounst and brackets from watto too , i scored a HID kit from work but i trialed it in the lens but the HID globe is slightly longer than the original halogen and it throws the focus of the projector beam out and the light is everywhere but where you want it , so halogens it will stay

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288242822.jpg

not sure if im a fan but there growing on me , with the acewell mounted up it will look better

can for the radiator over flow

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288265503.jpg

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1288204714.jpg

though i was offered this for free is a transmisson cooler and is a similar size to the original but am still looking for something different

Good to see you back onto it Scotty.
Just FYI, for stainless fasteners, there's a place called Austain in Belmont and they do a all sorts of kits for fasteners.
I got myself and BW kits from there previously that have 5, 6 and 8mm stainless cap screws in all different lengths as well as flat washers and nuts.
This kit has pretty much covered 99% my stainless steel bike fastener needs.
Unfortunately they're not open Saturdays.

the scoop is closed at one end pete for sure , i seriously dont think that the bike will need the cooler anymore as the engine is now exposed and will collet alot of air its self but hey putting one one will aid in cooling and with the temps i get out here it may well be an advantage , though i have heard over cooling of the oil is apparently bad but i think its a myth

Scotty, don't worry about the oil cooler not working too well - you can ditch it altogether if you wish, there are VFRs getting around just fine without it.

Coming along nicely! Mine went on hold a while back but am getting back into it now - picked up an MV Agusta F4 headlight for it [:p]

mate that cooler looks good there
and there is no prob with running them like that at all
if u worried about oil under temp (doubt its a prob because its a water cooled bike and thermostat on water system just stays shut longer)
you could use a oil thermostat(btw the size diff between old and new coolers u could have got away without the scoop but i think it looks cool.)

cheers boys

todays effort , (and i mean effort , way to many rums last night) made the plate and spacers for mounting up the tail just need cleaning up painting , theres enough room in there i might fab up a battery box or use the area for my wiring spaghetti , get some more nice allen cup head bolts , i sat on it to night and suprisingly it is reasonable comfortable but time will tell on the road , that sp2 seat is a little hard , but ill sort that when i get it recovered

as for this area im not sure what to do with it , either trim it back , extend the lower section of the seat to come down and wrap the tank but i think that might look funny , or glass a panel up for it , but i know nothing about fibreglass

Looking good dude! Im sure you will find a way to make a cover for the mate. Fibreglass isnt all that hard. What is, is getting the shapes right for what you need to make.

How is the strength of those sub frame mounting plates mate? What's bracing it from sideways flex? ...or is it strong enough like that?

i dont think there is going to be to much flex in that plate si it is about 8-10mm thick by the looks of it and plenty strong enough

I was actually thinking more on the contact points / bolt stress. I guess with a strong plate and a good flat surface area it should be sweet hey? Just curious as the photos never give the right impression.

those plates look great, not meaning to be a pain ,i think the tail could go up a tad more,

i did try it a bit higher but it looked a bit odd , plus then i wouldnt be able to touch the ground as i suffer from PORG (People Of Restricted Growth)

Si and Rod the plates are 6mm i thought a bit of overkill was needed for my not so slim build i will be running a brace across the back of it and considering a battery box inside it show it should not move and it doesnt seem to at the moment the tail frame has braces not to far from the mounts , now that its mounted up im gonna tack the spacers to the plate and the top ones too if i can get in there, as the sp2 tail houses the battery up high at the back i im guessing by the mount moulded in it its a lay down sealed type , but it would be nice to get it mounted under the seat for lower centre of gravity

as for the fill in part im going to hunt down the original plastics if there still at moz's work and get the front section of the original tail and see if i can join and blend it to the sp tail something like this

forget the colours its not happening like that

I think the lines you have are really cool!

Not German Streetfighterish by any means but if thats not what you want then thats what you want!

I reckon the lines you have look really good IMO

The doctored version with the plastics almost looks stock/factory.

Is that a good thing ??

You obviously have a good eye for what you are after, keep going.

I think a couple of cross braces on the steel adp. plates would be a wise move.
I like the line of the seat and it does have a factory look to it, well done.

so i got a few more parts , mirrors , a screen , and a exhaust tip i made up but not sure on it , it'll be loud just like i like it but

my mirrors legal , just

the screen opinions please , i think i will drill some new mounting holes at the sides and lower it down about 15mm or sop to try and get rid of the gap , i wasnt sure about it in the beginning but its growing on me

That exhaust looks siik man! Love it! I dnt think the screen looks too out of place either, but lower would probably be nicer.

i like the look of the exhaust too mate... i assume its epically loud, but it looks cool.

As for the screen, i think when it is lowered to fill the gap it will have a nice cafe racer look.
