it seems to run okay at the moment but i dare say it will need some back pressure coz i reackon once its on the road it will run up the shit , i have desnorkelled the airbox but a few VFR guru's have said this also may make it run up the shit , and the fuel in it is over a year old too . so some fresh fuel jet kit and some tuning and hopefully its a great ride , ive made a bit of a spark arrester thing to fit in the join of the current pipe on there and it might give it some back pressure but in all honesty the pipe is to loud to ride every day in town here so ill save it for shows and the like so i think i will get myself one of these

kool - thats a good size too - Im going to put a stubby rise on mine so it sits just under the rear tail. Was gonna go for the underseat, but im limited for space. Im thinking of an Akropovic (spelling) or something like that that is slimline, but will still perform

cheers hackjobsrus im hanging to finish it , you should introduce ya self in the welcomes section
so this is the plates i had made to mount up the tail id like to call them trial 1 as they are shit
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1290887832.jpg
not very pretty but they worked so i re-made some new ones and at the same time moved the seat up a tad and in a bit plus a little bit more angle but only the smallest amount and its heap better , lighter and now i wont make a fill in panel of glass , im going to cut the tab off the bottom of the tank and fill in the bottom body line of the tank to smooth out the panel
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_5410.jpg

i had planned to vinyl wrap in carbon look but im not sold on the idea yet as im thinking it will be too much , was going to break it up with a red stripe down the length of the bike , just not sure
http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/uploads/monthly_07_2010/post-10295-12788874837442_thumb.jpg
so maybe ill paint it black with a red pearl over the top and still run the strip of red down the length of it , not sure maybe traditional flat black haha

got me an apprenticeship.. was doing fitting and machining but ive been invited to join another company, changing trade to heavy diesel.
still wanna get my hands on a cheap lathe/mill to practice on, as its a awesome skill to have.. esp. in streetfightering..
built a 4.3 x 3.4 shed at our new house, which is directly outside our bedroom window.. and now have to kit it out.. also have 2 dogs and 3 bikes, joined the reserves and yeh.. so ive been pritty fuc£ing busy.. but when the shed done, jet ski sold, and 2 of the 3 bike are gone.. im gonna build another..

so the wheels turned up yesterday , slotted on the tyre today cheers moz and went to fit it on the bike and no fit but a bit of milling and it'll go on , i seem to remember that vfr800 hubs dont have the disc bolts hanging through and cb is the same , but the 750 needs clearances on the wheel for them , no biggy just need to bolt her down on the mill
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/wheels.jpg
but she looks good on , the old 750 wheel is a 5" the cb is a 5.5"
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/onbike.jpg
and the undertail , hotbodies one i think , intergrated indicators and stop/tail

Sweeet! That is well cool!
hyofighter
02-03-2011, 11:00 PM
well i measured the wheel today for offset and its perfect , the rim is a half inch wider than the original so the offset is an extra 1/4 of an inch maintaining the centre line of the bike and the tyre is a 180 and doesnt have any clearance issues though it is close , the bolts i removed and i machined down the tops of some hardened button head bolts and mounted them from the front much easier than machining the rim , so its all mounted up now just to get a hugger for it and some nice new chrome wheel nuts
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/allens.jpg
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/clear.jpg
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/fitted.jpg
as for the front every thing seems to look good but ill have to get it out to see how it measures up to take the 929 bearings and axle , i measured a cb front end at the wreckers the other day and the fork centres are the same as 929 so hope fully i dont need to make any spacers , the disc will mount the same as the cb ones are smaller but will just have to measure the distance between and make sure its the same so apart from that fingers crossed its a straight swap
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/cbfront.jpg
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/cbr929.jpg
and now i have a skid rim [:p]

04-03-2011, 07:26 PM

09-03-2011, 06:20 PM
Top work Scotty
Now Watto lets tell the truth here please !
There are other reasons behind why you have not finished that coolant leak yet and aren't telling everyone about HHHMMMM!
hyofighter
13-03-2011, 10:43 PM
well its off the table , thank f$%k for that it takes up to much space , and once i had it down on the ground the first thing i noticed is how small this thing is i was like what have i created its low and small and looks muscular and a added bonus is i can touch the ground with both feet "Woohoo" down side is now ill have to change a few things with the light mounting as the bracket fouls on the frame limiting the steering lock greatly
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_5476.jpg
so now i have removed the front wheel to see if i can make the cb wheel fit , the disks mounted up no problem and spacing is perfect
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0199.jpg
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0200.jpg
but once removed the bearings and seals it was a different story , the cb bearings are 2mm bigger in diameter and i can get a bearing with the cbr inner size and a cb outer its just not made , second thing is the axle bearing spacing is different narrower on the cb wheel
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0201.jpg
and the third thing was the seal outer diameter was .2mm different but just enough that it wouldnt convincingly hold the seal in like id hoped , at this point i was gonna give up and just stick with the cbr wheel but i took a trip down the road to the machinist , he asked why i would bother but he was happy to take my money so he will machine out the hub to except the cbr bearings machine down the inner tube and make some new spacers that are longer and slightly larger for the different axle seals , so fingers crossed he gets it all right
hyofighter
13-03-2011, 10:53 PM
o yeah got me a new skid lid to go with the project and i promised my self i wouldnt wear it till the bike was finished , so that will make me go harder to finish it ??? bullshit

14-03-2011, 07:43 AM
Scott, why wouldn't you just make some new spacers to slip inside the bearings & are big enough for the seals ? seems like a much easier option to me....
hyofighter
14-03-2011, 12:30 PM
Nar its the opposite way round the the cb axle was smaller than the cbr as was the hub so it needs to taken out just a bit to take the cbr bearings , I was hoping to get a bearing with smaller outer dia and with the larger cbr inner
mr.zxr
19-03-2011, 08:49 AM
you could blow the budget or the bank manager and get exben to make some custom wheels for you.:D
hyofighter
22-03-2011, 11:50 PM
so i got my cb front wheel back today from the machinist already to be assembled
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_5664.jpg
the centre all machined up to take cbr929 bearings and axle , only required a small amout of meat taken out 2mm on total and then the flange inside to be bored a tad to let the inner spacer pass through
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_5662.jpg
and then some new spacers to be made to make up the the over total length as the spacer tube had to be shortened to fit the cb wheel
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_5663.jpg
all this done for $115 pretty good i thought new seals and bearings for $35
now to assemble

so had these lights and screen no dramas , but as soon as it was off the table i had a problem of bugger all steering lock as the clamps on the forks for the lights hit the frame , so off with them as i couldnt find clamps long enough or nice enough
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_5352.jpg
so i found a ADR approved enduro light $99 locally standard H4 globe so it will be getting a HID upgrade
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/4.jpg
next problem is the clearance at the back , the front subframe mount hangs out to much and the globe terminals hit so do i cut it ???? i think it might be frowned upon when i put it over the pits
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/5.jpg
but i like it too
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/1.jpg

i bought a h4 hid kit from rated r for $70 about a month ago, and put it in my DRZ 400 motard. although it's the reflector that throws the light, blah blah blah, the hid is a shitload better than standard globe.

Hey Scott - Those headset lugs...I cut aound them on mine which freed up the room while still leaving the lugs on there. There is no structural need for the lugs, so you could even take them off. Left mine to fit the Trumpy front subframe - check my build topic for the details

is that HID kit a true H4 one as in does it have high and low filiments if so im getting one , and for sure the light is only good as its reflector and as i do live in the sticks i like good light for spotting skippys

thought about just taking out enough to clear the back of theglobe but ill take it back just past the holes leaving a small rib and make it look neat so if its ever noticed it looks factory

so i went at it and i cut the lug off , but no easy way to do it so strip the front off it again so i can do it neatly and so i can also make adjustable bump stops as the vfr stops are set way to far back for the cbr ones on the clamp
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_6037.jpg
originally had small grub screws but i had to use some bolts as they were longer
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_6040.jpg
so whilst the front was out i moved the radiator back as this also fouled on the forks and in doing this it made the fan a tight fit but there is a small gap to the rocker cover

i had thoughts of polishing up the top section of the frame and after some research it sounded like it was gonna be a mammoth task taking of the anodizing and prep for polishing , so i thought i try something on a smaller scale , my laser muffler as it was marked up from the crash in its previous life plus whilst i was at it i thought id shorten it a bit , like 5 inches so after doing all the work to take the anodizing off and the prep work after i most certainly not polishing my frame , fark that

so no going away for me over easter , on call for breakdowns but upside is i dont have to deal with the bulk loads of dickheads on the roads and double demerits , so to the shed for the dredded job of wiring up the front end , there is about half a metre of extra length in the loom thats not needed so i unwrapped it all rerouted what i had to and whats left ill have to cut and shut , bonus of this was i uncovered some more damage
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_0024.jpg
so then i moved the coils from outside of the frame and mounted them to the fan shroud , moved the fuse box and will have to mount the relays gonna be tight in there

http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_0019.jpg
mounted up the shortened laser , started her up and sounds good but not as good as this little stumpy out of the left over perfirated tube i made during a quiet time at work and i thought it wouldnt do much but its suprisingly deep and just takes of the edge

not alot of posting been going on lately busy building the bike trailer so i can take the missus's quad out when i go , but i made some good progress and she is getting closer to being regoable , the wiring was a long and annoying task but im glad in how it turned out considering the amount of wiring and the length of a vfr loom , but if i was to do it again i would just make a new loom i reackon it would be easier in the long run
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_0031.jpg

http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0298.jpg
so pretty much after that it was fill up the fluids bleed the brakes and clutch and hope that it all works and moves , and lucky for me it did so outside she went for a few laps of the yard and then a bath , was awesome to have it rideable

http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMG_0793.jpg
so i thought id do a sound clip for yas with the shortened laser muffler and there is one of the home made stubby i did to was going to do it outside but it was getting late and i think the neighbours are on edge

another thing im thinking of doing is getting rid of the rad iator hoses and getting some silicone bends and some polished stainless tube and making some thing more racey looking , but finding it hard to get 25mm bends in red , blue is easy and have thought about it but im not sure if the blue will look silly , what do ya reckon???

also took the 2 front gaurds the cbr and sp2 back down to motorcycle masters and swap them for a later model 06 cbr1000 front gaurd mountings are the same other than it has a second lower front bolt hole but thats no biggy got that covered but i think it looks a bit slimmer and nicer

well long time no shed action on the bike , but i have been in northern england for 2 weeks 1 week in scotland a week in london a day in paris 2 weeks back at work then a week in bali lucky me but now i have no holidays left and the credit card is on fire but it was all good fun , so now its back to it , so whilst i was away i had a thought about the radiator pipes and have since dropped the hoses off to the local exhaust joint and there making me some mandrel bent polished stainless pipes and i got some black silicone hose to join her all up so hopefully that will look the goods
the other day my local autopro were having deals on k&n filters for cars but i asked about the vfr one and i scored one for $80 thought that was pretty good
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0337.jpg
so next was what to do with the bottom of the tank it doesnt look nice and has some body lines in it , i thought about cutting the tab off the bottom but everyone i had mentioned this to said not to just incase it breaks the seal so i made a ali panel to fill it in , not sure if im a fan but it works , so then i got some of that 3M carbon wrap and wrapped it myself the stuff isnt bad to use i even give the phone some love , i will also do the numberplate backgrounds on the tail piece with it too to tie it all together
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0413.jpg

http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0452.jpg
so lastnight i stripped her down again and got the panels ready for the painter on monday
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr%20fighter/IMAG0466.jpg
so all thats left is a final tidy up and fit the HID light and finish off the number plate bracket and sort the stupid mudflap for rego

well at last its all starting to come together now and hopefully for the last time , paint is done and picked up and i must say its awesome but my opinion maybe biased , tried to fit a HID kit to the headlight but was a no go as being a h4 shuttle style hi/lo the back hangs out to far so ill have to go with standard h4 for now , panels will go on on the weekend seens as we got a long weekend coz of the stupid queen being here , go my pipes at long last for the radiator and i think they just finish it off , im pretty wrapped in them

so with the change over a few posts were lost and ive just moved house (epic adventure never to do again) and i havent been able to post till the computer was hooked up so here is the missing parts
so she is finally done just rego and im on the road, a big day on sat finishing at 1 in the morn but i was happy to see it complete
so the parts back from the painter the colour is jet black with a red pearl , the pearl really seen when in full sun but it looks mint
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr fighter/IMAG0507.jpg
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr fighter/IMAG0508.jpg
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr fighter/IMAG0531.jpg
had to fit the chain guard back on for rego but also to hold the rear brake line , i had a heap of that carbon wrap left so i gave it ago although not perfect it turned out alright , it will stay till i find a neat hugger for it
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr fighter/IMAG0537.jpg
and so it began fitment time , tidy up a few things make some adjustments and then she started to come together
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr fighter/IMAG0546.jpg
so at 1 in the morning the shed turned upside down tools everywhere lost my rum somewhere but it was done and boy was i happy
http://i1087.photobucket.com/albums/j477/hyofighter/vfr fighter/IMAG0550.jpg
so this morning in the little bit of sun that we had i took some happy snaps

so current update
so she went in for rego and passed with flying colours was easier than i thought luckly , ive been out and about enjoying it with no real major dramas than the clutch is knacked i think it a combo of soft springs and a lack of meat on the plates only slips when its cold first up if you give it a handfull so in the new year ill fit a new one , and if your acewell fuel gauge says its empty its fuckn empty lucky i coasted to the servo just as it started to fart around , the v4 grunt is awesome and when ridden in anger it goes well too i was suprised at well it handles for a bitsu but after riding the bucket of water handling the hyo had anything is an improvement hey , stops awesome too so allround im pretty impressed with it , i weighed her out the tip and it came in at 204 i think this is good for a vfr anyways
so the finished product out in the sun

but it was worth the wait the house i awesome but the shed is better a 6m x 9m with a 6x6 carport next to it so now i got bulk room and all those laminated streetfighter posters cover every inch of wall space , time for a shed party i say
