Cool fella, now chop cut rebuild.

Thats the plan but dont even know where to start. Being a shaft drive and an old bike it might be easier to just sell this one and get a newer bike for a project fighter. Bloke at work has a blade for sale for $5000 but its been on the track for a while too.

Aye welcome mate i had a 650xj yrs ago, but i think this is a 900 yeah??
Oh and by the way no dramas with the blade being a track bike mate they were built to be there;) if you know what i mean.:D

Yep Damo1 it is a 900, Looks like i have to stick with the 900 for a while. Just bought my 4 year old a lt50 and the other boy aint far off. If anyone has got pics of shaftdrives done up i would love to see them

Modern front end, change the seat unit for modern such as R6 etc,
Rear wheel can be changed...I had an adaptor made up in the UK to fit an st1100 3 spoke wheel to a GSX1100G.
Most shafty rear wheels can be adapted to fit other bikes.

Thought about ripping the air box out and putting pods on it to free up some room in the frame. The rear tyre is skinny as, and with the swing arm, there isnt much room to put a bigger tyre or rim on? Let me guess ya gunna tell me to chop the swing arm off and replace it with ........

Cheers for the stickers Morry they have gone to great use. Let me know next time there is a meet up weather it be a piss up or ride would love to catch up with the rest of ya's depending if i got the kids or working. Sharky you have now got these rusty cogs movin in my head, came across a binned R1 today and the rear plastics and seat where ok. Gotta talk the cook into it though....

See if there's enough to buy the r1 as is, keep the good bits and flog the rest on ebay.[}:)]

He wants $7,000 as is and the whole front and frame is fucked. Next time i see it i will get a photo its worth the look for a laugh. I offered him $2,500 and the cheeky fucker laughed at me. Sims metal would take it for free, minus seat and rear guard ;)

If i rip out the airbox and replace with some pod filters, am i going to have to get the bike re tuned. I want to put a newer model front on the bike first. How much would i be looking at roughly so i dont get ripped off????????

Looking good mate , I used to ride a XS1100 shaft drive has its good and bad points (mostly bad when fighering lol) Ever thought of converting it to chain ? There was a guy doing it to XS1100's in melb a few years back as diffs were expesive to have rebuilt. Welcome and enjoy!

Sure it's not the fuse box? Notoriously iffy on the XJ's - best replaced with a newer blade style fuse box.

04-08-2010, 08:04 AM
HEY HILLSY I HAVE PUT THOSE ENCLOSED INLINE FUSES IN IT FOR A BIT MORE PROTECTION (AND ALL ARE OK) WHEN I DID HER UP BUT AFTER LOOKING AT IT AFTER WORK LAST NIGHT I AM LEANING TOWARDS THE IGNITION MODULE NOW/????

I like the look of the ZXR tail but cause my rear tyre is so narrow not sure what it would look like. With the shaft drive on it i cant go any wider
