that is a zyclon head light unit from megetech, i also have a megetech belly pan, they're from the first phase of the built. so no no no, i'm keepin that headlight.

you see for the second phase i have a 94 vfr sssa, and (oh glory, i'm week at the knees) a buell x1 subframe.

thanks for the interest and support. i work one week on one week off so i'm not rushin the project. gettin married and honeymoon in the coming month will hold things up abit too. but after that i've met the quota for the year of doin stuff for the missus.

sorry i'm slack on replying. its a 750 sa.

bah hah hah damo, sorry brother, like i said ill be hangin on to that one. diamond headlights!

i hope i change those bars eventually just some flats. tee bars would also be cool. or even clip on zeds. its all floating in the air so the risers will meet minimum standards for now. maybee i turn em upside down? eh.

so glad i reunited my self with the brothers of the sf!
thanks jakam.
its a 93 frame, and a 94 swingarm. i got a couple guys at work who might just be able to spin it up.

what do you guys reckon about powder coating a the swing arm? or should i think about using that tough paint used for the back of utes? obviously i would be carefull of pivot points and stuff

Another important part to check is that your swingarm is imprinted with a MZ7 as per mention in CBRRRT's build thread... definitely worth a read.

yeah all sweet there another thanks to CBRRRT!. i did a bit of fussing around with the suspension before my crash and so found CBRRRT's advise on that topic easy to follow.. i found legthening the dog bone linkage by 5mm = about 10mm drop in the rear or vise-a-versa. thats with standard blade arm. vfr arm will change all that. i wanted to drop the bike to the gruond when i was doing some down the quarter runs. now i'm happy to leave as is. i ran a 10.8 in adelaide couple years ago but only backed it up with a low 10.9. i think i lowered the front by 20mm... some dude said i was nuts cos it would get too unstable through the twisties... so now i just have it 10mm lowered.

what do ya reckon bout coloring the swingarm? paint, plastic coat?

CBRRRT
18-02-2010, 07:32 PM
I think powdercoat is more durable but if you're not gonna off road it 2 pack would also be ok I guess.

can some one help? once i get the lock nut off of my vfr 750 swingarm, how do i remove the hub?? do i need a pulling tool?

i want to get the whole thing in bits to plastic coat the arm. i'm running out of project time this week. the missus is draggin me along to this honey moon thing in vanuatu and i can't take tools or bike.

Mate when Ben did mine he used a big rubber mallet and just belted it out.

It was tough at first and then just came easy once the seal was cracked:D.

Just be careful not to damage the thread, leave the nut on loose at the end of the thread and hit on the nut rather tahn the thread if that makes any sense.

I thought it might be a bit easier to do the job if I removed the sprocket first and got the chain right out of the way.

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1256984547.jpg

So after I got the sprocket off the next thing to do was undo that big nut. I dont have a socket that big so used an adjustable wrench.
Behind the nut is a washer that needs to be removed carefully with a flat screw driver. [8)]

Once they are off the hub should pull off. [:p]

http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1256986500.jpg

With a soft mallet, tap out the hub from the splined side.

I used my Haines manuel, but now all you have to do is follow this, happy days!!! :D

back from Vanuatu... yep ok, finaly got that vfr hub off of my swing arm. the gentleman who last put it together oped to make it near impossible for me to take it off.

ill be sure to put a dab of graphite grease on the splines when putting it all back together. as soon as the camera is done tranferring the 20 photo albums of honey moon pics i can put the swingarm pics up

Dont know if you've checked out my thread latly mate, but I reckon your not a million miles from getting your preditor mask. Things are moving along quite nicly.

Just one question mate. In your first photo above of all your swing arm bits the table is flat, then in the next photo its on its side, but all the parts including your tool box stayed put.

Question; Did you use super glue or blue tack to hold em down?

nah bro i live inside a centrefuge, bah hah hah. good spot dude i though that pic might look a bit goble-de-googs.

fuk thats funny, i am quite literally LOL'ing.

predator mask??!

i'm still waiting foe my swingarm tool and have opened a disput through paypal. nobody else has had any hastles with the uk tool making dude so i'm sure the item has honestly been lost in trasit. Robmac says i can get the arm off with out the tool, i just need it to tighten everything up so i can wait a little longer.
i'm going to try to spin up that spacer this week when i go away to work.
and am reading up on engine removal. i've decided i need to put the color down right this time, was hoping that i could do all sorts to the engine like buy a supercharger kit when i remove it but ill have to settle on the fact that there is always the future.

figuring out how im going to fit this buell x1 subframe into my honda frame.
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269857590.jpg

if it were only thinner in would fit
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269791165.jpg

ah ha... if i machine down these fixing points on the subframe i could make it fit perfectly inside the top mounts of the honda frame
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269816186.jpg

i measured that the thikness of the sub frame at the top mount points needs to be only 15mm thick. here i'm marking what needs to be machined off
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269822618.jpg

i considered using an angle grinder so i could get it done tonight, but one thing i have learned is to have patience and do a right proper job as often as i can
http://www.asfphotos.com/upload/1269825934.jpg

also i mark the sub frame whilst held in position on frame. i might just allow myself a bit of room to move so i can be sure on the angle i mount the seat at.

once i start get the top in i'm thinking i'll make up a few different template brackets to fix the bottom mounts to the main frame. i'd have to find/make a second fixing point on the mainframe. this is where i must carefully contemplate whether or not i could make the subframe angle adjustable. for the pillion rides one day to the smashed in the arse german look the next.
