when i eventully receive the fj i bought off russ, among other things i'm planning on fitting a dfferent rear wheel so i can fit a tyre wider than the standard 150. i found a website offering advice, and what looks particulary good is the gsxr1100 rear wheel conversion because it seems easy, and reasonably cheap due to the abundance of gsxr parts abaliable.
i was wondering if someone with more experience than myself in this type of thing could check it out and maybe point out any problems or difficulties that i might have.
your advice is appreciated guys

The best thing you can do is take as much Yamaha off that crate and replace it with GSXR parts your investment go's up in value and street cred

Sounds easy enough, just remember that I got told that the same GSXR wheel would go straight in to my GSX1100. After 7 million hours of mods it went straight in.

Too true. It's all "pretty simple" when you've got a mill and a lathe to "just shave a couple of thou off" here and there.

I don't see any of those conversions as being a direct bolt-in fit, but as long as you can do a bit of fab work, pretty well any 5.5in wheel is as good a candidate as any.

Not quiet mate...I offered up the R6 rear from my xjr project....chain alignment spot on...wheel was 2" off centre.

Hi.
What exactly did you do? I am sitting with a couple of GSXR wheels
(year 96-98, 17x6" ) I am trying to get those to fit on to my 84' GSX 1100 EF.. If I could save 6 million of workhours I would be happy :-) Thanks!!
