started off ok, went awesome, pipe is crap old style 60s, needs some paint over the carbon to bring the blackness of the weave up, even some rainbow flake in laquer would sparkle over the carbon, trick but not trick enough, seen better, engineering ace, frame is top notch, can't fault that, marks out of ten 6.

been building top show fighters for over 20 years now, and i've seen a lot, don't get me wrong guys everyone to their own when it comes to design / style etc, i adore carbon, i make stuff for bikes out of it, but on that / this bike, it just lacks that certain sparkle, it is only an opinion, we all have one, my own bike, 40 grand mv streetfighter, but its crap really, well in my eyes anyway, lol. seen some of the feature bikes you members have, tasty, very tasty, but try looking for an ultra fighter, ain't seen one yet, but will post one on if i do. this site is excellent, i like the feedback, ok it's playing me down, but if you saw my work, you might change your mind, maybe's not. you are all great buddies, giz a chance, you'll like us in the end ok. regards, mrmvman [u.k.].

dear stu, i never brag as that's just not me. my bike, well is registered as a suzuki gsx 1100 et and that's all, it has the suzook 1127 motor, fully rebuilt, everything is in carbon and titanium, average paint, chroming, polishing, copper plating, everything one off excluding the motor and all the mv agusta parts, it's in streetfighters mag [u.k.] next month, please feel free to slag it off if you wish, but i wasn't slagging this bike off, i was just saying it lacked a little bit more trick stuff, but that's me, probably the owner will just add to it, and that's great, ok, maybe i was a bit mean about the pipe, but wouldn't it look even more awesome with four thinner polished cans underneath than one large one, sound and look amazing, but this guy has done well, can't wait to see his next project ok. my bike is still crap by the way, lol. regards, mrmvman.

Mate, don't worry I won't be slagging your bike as it is not my style to do so, you know the old adage "those in glass houses" and all.
It is just if you come straight out of the gate with your first post like that then you have to expect some flack. Have a look around the "your ride" section and I'm sure you will find some impressive work.

Build a fighter for 40 grand, any average engineer could do that!Just pick up the phone or mouse, order all the bits and bolt it together. Try doin it on a budget and see how it turns out. FFS 40 grand!!!

mrmvman
08-03-2010, 11:30 PM
megawatt, just to point out something mate ok, i built this bike over a 9 year period, and at 40k uk pounds sterling i never intended it to stretch out to that much, but like a big mountain you just keep climbing until you reach the top then you start the slow climb down, i got to the point where i had to carry on with it, no stopping, and i did 95% of the work on it myself, obviously, i can't make frames haven't the gear or money to do that, paint was farmed as was screen and hugger, plating too, but the carbon is all mine, as is the billet stuff, g/box mod, etc, i understand we have all got budgets, but also note, i only work part time, buy and sell parts to fund project, got rid of an expensive g/f, what i can't buy i make myself, etc. i consider myself a perfectionist, a bit over the top really, but all my bikes have been built by/ designed and parts made by me. i try to go beyond those normal add on, bolt on goodies, and design something never before seen, this is why i wanted a mv agusta, pure italian expensive erotica, just wanted a decent motor, so in went the 1127 k motor with mods, have a look at it, tell me what you think ok, regards, mrmvman. ps in your currency it works out at $80,000.

if i won the lottery, i could build anyone including myself, the ultimate, ultra fighter. it would take 1 year to build, cost well over 150 k, but it would be the cream of the crop, it would be a titanium one of frame, carbon seat unit, tank, m/guard, ohlins top race shock, ohlins race forks, radial 6 potters, wavys, eccentric headstock, led clox, busa twin turbo with super charger and duel port fuel injection with twin port nos, pipes would be titanium, minimal weight, with high end power. plus best paint etc, etc, prehaps cost more right, but we all know, that type of cash we ALL can build something out of this world.
i started out fightering a cd 175 back in the early eighties, 2-1 one off pipe, nice paint, chassis and bodywork mods, etc, then up to a gs 750, 400/4 honda bored to a 465 road and track cam, ti valves and springs, clips and rear sets, one off 4 - 1 piper exhaust cut and modified by maitland racing, it would rev to 13 grand in every gear except 6th where it would pull only to 12.5 grand, i raced a tuned rd 350 power valve from the lights, it had nowt below 6 k once over that it just blew it away on acceleration and top end, we parted company when times came hard, but i did see that castrol sponsored a honda based team in late 70's early 80's their bike a 400/4 f1 was tuned, bored to 490 with yoshi pistons, race cam, staggered bores, 4 x amal carbs, and 4 - 4 exhaust system, full fairing etc, it was timed on the man flat stick at 150 mph, i was going to have mine done to that spec but it would be really unsuitable riding for the road, all or nothing, had cbx 1000's, kwack z1000j's, gt 750 kettles, gs 750's, gpz 1000 rx, gixer 750's, bandit 12's, sixes, in fact a list of over 80 bikes since i was 17, i'm now 48. with me i like old skool stuff, but in some respects i like some modern too, i have seen the new duke 1098 rear swinger and it's trick, could put that into something nice, what with a nice set of mv forks with rad cals and wavys, one off frame, prehaps a bored out gixer 11 to 1340 race cams, flowed would be a nice starting point, trick bodywork, prehaps have an all in one tank and seat unit that rises off the touch of a button, scope is endless, i undress bikes with my mind, strip them down and rebuild them as i see, even chopping and changing here and there, as we all do i suppose, in a way i wish i lived in oz, i'd have fun, great buddies, lots of fighter talk, helping with builds, a dream life for me that chaps, but one can dream right, best wishes to all, mrmvman.

Haven't seen your piccies, have you got a link. Did £40,000(I'm English too) include the cost of your time or was that just parts and other peoples labour charges?

mrmvman
09-03-2010, 08:50 AM
megawatt, cost of time, over 9 years would be enormous so you as well as i don't count a cost for that, i do it for the passion and enjoyment of creating something from fresh air, as that is how this build started, the money, well in the early days when mv's were just out, spares for them were mega bucks, so the bulk cost for me was then, labour there was some involvement there of course as certain jobs had to be farmed out, i'll give you an idea of the start of it ok.

i think it was either 2000 or 2001 i saw john tooze's [born to be wild] tricked up mv f4 on the superbike stand at the n.e.c., i had a good look round it especially at the arm as i love single siders, an ad in s/f mag got me a bare arm, hub assy in bits, shock and links, no wheel, no caliper. my plan was to fit it into a gixer 1100 m frame but when i offered it up it was far too wide, it meant cutting the sides of the frame out and grafting in new wider frame plates, jigging, welding fell to mind plus bracing, so i decided against it as cost would be far too much, eventually i bought mv frame centre sections then bolted everything together, so there it lay on my garage floor for about 6 months, reading the ads in the comic one day [mcn], was for sale mv front end, forks, yokes, calipers, std discs, no wheel, no mudguard so i bought them, i got the chance to measure the width of a standard mv f4 motor, compared it to my gixer one and unbelievable, the suzook would fit into an mv chassis with mods, frames at that time were around 5 grand, so that was out, so a guy i know who runs / owns pest engineering in gloucester after telling him what i wanted would make me the front trellis cradle in cold drawn steel tubing, so off went the bits, when i picked it up it was a rolling chassis, he also fitted into the head stock, an eccentric tube out of a 916 duke, this meant i could alter the trail for accurate handling, when i mentioned rolling chassis, whilst it was at pest, i bought in that time 2 x brand new wheels from mv as there was no second hand ones available, a rear caliper came along some time after that.
over the years, i kept adding this, removing that until i was happy with what was slowly developing. i did rurforth auto jumble every month for over 2 years, getting out a four in the morning, not getting back till six at night, buying selling parts to fund the project which was taking me over, i could have nipped in the bud, but i was besotted with ultra trick, and wanted something totally different, i think i have created that, although mainly it looks like an mv, but with the heart of a suzuki powering it, i have posted /sent in a few pix for you all to see, i hope gix11 will sort em nice for you all, i'm not a bragger far from it, just a guy who's strived for perfection over the years, so if you need advice i'll gladly help anyway i can, just ask ok. regards, mrmvman.

Chris,

I reckon your bike is technically great, but asthetically terrible. I counted about 12 colours plus the sharky thing which may have been acceptable when you started the build -or maybe when you first dreamt of it, but it's just not right right now. The pics you sent in don't do any justice to your bike either- maybe take off the chain and wheel it outside where you can get a few pics of the whole bike in front of a plain wall/lockup door etc. On top of that, I had pics of a GSXR moteur, that you were calling GSXET with very little other info except where to get your own model shark from so I had no idea what you were on or on about.

CC's post on your thread sums it up for me-
