well guys here it is this is my budget built with nearly no outlay just bartering off fairing and bits of stuff that werent needed any more.i took these shots when i got home yesterday after its maiden voyage and other than a leaking radiator hose and the fact i have to get the frontend re aligned all is good[xx(]. It is amazing the difference the bars etc make to the riding position, i thought they would, but not so much it awesome:D. aswell as peoples looks u see them saying WTF was that[8D]. anyway great to be on the road again:D

Nice one Chris. how did you go with your throttle cables? Did you have to get longer ones??

WATEVR
05-01-2007, 01:30 PM
shift1313:mate the front end is stock USD forks, six pot calipers and yes the single bolt lowers. and i thought it was when you were poor u paid attention....

Hillsy: throttle cables did reach and i got the return a fair bit better but not 100% the FLY bars that are on it are fairly high and if i was buying again i would go a flat bar type, live and learn!

Sweet watevr - matt black rules. i reckon to chop down your front guard a wee bit tho and if you are looking for flat bars I got the low rider ones for I got mine for 50 bucks (plus gst) from austreetfighters. they are way better then the $150 renthals i had

Great looking fighetr, gotta love Black!

A technical question if you don't mind. It looks like you have a small pod style air filter at the ram air intake point. Is that the only mod to the intake? Because I rode an older ZX6R that had been fightered last week, and at high speed (100 + km/h) it was hard to accelerate, because obviously the bike is designed to run the intake pipes to get the air speed to the airbox..? Love to know if you have had/solved this problem... :)

Hey looking good man. Makes me want to get started on mine. Do your standard clutch and brake lines still reach? Also could you post a close up pick of the top clamp set up that you drilled to mount the bars. Thanks and congrats.

Paul.

RUSS M8: the air intake is standard bar a k&n filter, where the streetfighter stickers are located used to join to the ram air tubes from the original fairings. i have yet to go for a high speed ride so top end performance i cant comment on just yet, but i will do so as soon as i have over the weekend so keep an eye out. hope all that helped.

FAT46: will get some shots asap and post them in here for you man.

Will be really interested to hear how it goes at higher speeds, 120+.
Might be the fix for my mates ZX6....

i thought i would tell you all that after its first longer run the bike ran like a dream. RUSS M8 the top end performance i didnt notice much difference, well not until high hundreds but minor if anything. i must say though it is taking abit for me to get used to how light the front is now, if you have ever ridden a 7r you will know the fronts are rock solid. the only thing that i have got an issue with is a sweep from the clutch fluid but i cant find exactly where its coming from and it is only a drop or two when i stop, consider it adding character!!

Looks good mate. Glad to see you back on the road and catching up with other SA members. I don't reckon those bars look bad. I would have my saw out on the front guard though..........

yeah i am happy with the bars its just they are quite high and if i had looked at some flat bars proberly would have gone with them , but i will stay with these now. as for the front gaurd yeah im getting to that!

Thanks heaps mate. So you have 1 pod on each side, where the cut out in the frame is? Must try that on the ZX6...
