View Full Version : Underseat exhausts - gay or good

I'm a bit over underseat exhausts and have never really liked high level exhausts.
But lots of guys go with them, so each to their own.

I don't know if making an exhaust pipe a foot longer to go high level or even longer again to go under the seat would affect performance, but I personally prefer seeing the pipe out there in the breeze.
All the rest look like something is missing off the bike(which of course, could be the point).

So the question is, what do people think of the underseat exhuasts and high level exhausts compared to normal?
If you had the money, would you spend it to convert yours to underseat or would you rather invest in something like a fuck off titanium Akra system or a sweet yoshi stainless system in the normal position ?

If and when I can find a suitable rear end (SV/R6/636)

I hope to use my 2 Yoshi Oval's lay down 916 style.

Why ?

Because I want to & I like it & I can.

Never had unseat pipes and maybe now I will.

Everyone is allowed their own opinion,
....we can't all be perfect....
There wouldn't be enough Busa's for everyone! ;)

I've got a car muffler on the side of my ZX9 so underseat exhausts must be gay....:D

Seriously though, most standard sportsbikes nowadays have underseat exhausts - so the "wild" element has now become the norm. I'm thinking maybe under engine exhausts will be the new thing??.....

I reckon it depends on the bike - I love clean lines and hiding the exhaust under the seat does the job for me

mine was custom and wouldn't have it any other way

I tend to like the underseat jobbies, but I'm stuck with the on the side one, was thinking of putting a car one on, but then I look at the little jappo rice burners with the HUGE diameter exhaust and have a laugh when I think "the size of the penis is inversly proportional to the size of the exhaust" i.e. ... are they compensating for something???

Cheers

Seeing as the fighter on our logo has the underseat exhaust I'd have to say it's good:D. I was looking at making one for the GS, but now that it's got the turbo bolted on I think I'll just go for a dump pipe.[:p]

i think that if what u do looks as though you customised it is cool. however it comes down to what ever tickles your fancies most empotantly.
but for the record i ddo like the underbelly and little one that sticks out behind your heel (R6 style)

I like the underseat jobs if they are on the right bike and are done well. Having said that I am a big fan of the under engine system - very tough and good mass centralisation. I have a full titanium Muzzy race system at the moment and am struggling with the above options when it comes time to fighter my bike. It does depend alot on the bike I think.

I'm a fan of them when they go sleek with the tail fairing ie. tucked under slightly like the stock r1 and blades. However when they stick out like a sore thumb thats when they suffer from being hedrosexually challenged.

i have just done one on my 954rr using a cbr1000rr micron can, i thnk it looks a lot cleaner than the sidemount one. was a pain chopping the undertray and mounting everything though

I think underseat exhausts are beautiful. As soon as i get a rectifier for my blade i will put 4 mv augusta blue flame pipes under the seat.It should look a little different....
