This is the standard, stock 1985 model air / oil cooled. I think Earlier models were air cooled?

EFE's were air cooled, oil cooling came out in 85 with gsxr

Mine suffered with one until some tech from suzuki told me to change swing arm bearings and tension swing arm. had no problems after that.

EF's were Air-cooled.
Then came Oil-cooled (Bandit/R)
Thats a water cooled lump.

Sacrilige Effies are air cooled and should remain air cooled but with big bore, big cams, big valves, big carbs cause they're big arsed bastards

Simon any Suzuki with the 1135cc came out with an oil cooler, both of my 1135 EF's have oil coolers the naked version the later E had a little oil cooler.

The earleir air cooled E versions are all powered by the 1074cc
here you go for reference http://www.suzukicycles.org/All-Suzuki/all_suzuki_models.html

I can see what Simon's and Mr Hefty are saying.

EF/EFE were "air cooled" motors, they are an Evolution of the original GSX,
Yes they have an oil cooler, but its not a principle means of cooling.
It cools the engines oil, but dont use the oil to cool the motor as
an early Bandit GSXR does.

Busa's have Oil coolers, but they are still water cooled motors.

Mr Hefty, hmmm. As Tony says primary cooling is air as all GSX 11 or 1150 motors ever were. Indeed an oil cooler was fitted for cooling the oil but not for cooling the engine per se, hence the fins on the engine increasing the surface area of the engine(or at least the hot part of the engine) for the air to flow around.
