The bike is in Townsville and you will have to make arangments for the transport, we can put it on a pallet and take it to the transport depot of your choice in Townsville

Cheers Clive

[:p]no intrest has been showen in the sale of the bike and i needed one for the road, it has got all the road gear to go with it so i made an offer which he accepted, so i now have to put it back on the road ( which will happen this week ) a new set of tyres and a way we go.

i have a spare set of 03 fairings witch i will fit to it for something diffrent. paint will have to wait a month or so but will be the only colour that matters ( black )

Good stuff Clive. You need to follow the example of your Uncle Chopa and do frame work while maggoted. Here's some of what is technically yesterdays effort.

Arr not so good as i used to be, wasent launching it real good ( 2.1 60' ) and ran 11.00

Progress report, this arvo i have got all the suspension back to where it should be ( in the bike ) and the front back to standard height -15mm, refitted all the inner guards etc on the rear, ( need to get some better rear fairings ) and have refitted the wireing harness and gotten every thing to work, all i need in respect to the wiring side of things is a tacho to suit.

If any one can help out with either the rear farings ( left and right sides ) or with a tacho to suit a 90 model i would appreicate it greatly.

[}:)] I GOT TO GET A BIKE TO RIDE ITS DRIVING ME NUTS NOT BEEN ABLE TO RIDE [}:)]

Yey it a vey good bike to buy and in top nic, was considering it, but i got this one for a bargen, 4 1/5 less than Marks which leaves me a lot to spend on it if i want to, but would prefer to put the money into the bigbore kit for the fighter ;) if you know what i mean.

as usual things get side tracked and then you do more than you intend to do them and so this little project got a little out of hand, the bike has no ended up with an 03 GSXR 1000 USD but still fitted with the original '90 model front wheel, it also has the stearing dampener fitted just under the fairing bracket, a custom lead pipe to the muffler which is a titanium tri oval. i am in the process of painting the fairings at the moment but need to wait for a set of mirrors to be able to finish the painting.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo close and yet so farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
we will get there!!!

all i am waiting on is the wheels, they are getting painted and polished (painted inners and polished outers) then put it all back together.

NEEDS to happen befor the fools run as it is my transport down there so fingers crossed. should be done by end of next week.

Not enough time for the 03 swinger Clive...looks like the trip to the AFR will double as a shake down test...take a hand full of spanners, have fun...wish I could go.

Jockney Rebel LOL i thought of upgrading to an bungi strap (more power) LOL

scotty mac Im afraid so no GS to the AFR sold it to finance the gixxer and pay a cuple of bills befor i come down to the AFR

Dave it has been run for 6 months as a drag bike without a hitch, and regulary maintained so i don't see and probles with it however i am a member of RACQ just in case.

Early GSXR school is open - GSXR 101:

GSXR 750 ('85) 1100 ('86) to 1989 was known as the "SLABBIE" for the obvious reason that the side panels just looked like a slab of plastic, flat as pavement! Note the frame shape is more angular and thinner with a groove in it, plus the radical tank shape. This is the give away when looking at Streetfighters as you won't see the SLAB as it were!

http://www.suzukicycles.org/photos/GSX-R/GSX-R1100/1986_GSXR1100_redblwh_450.jpg

1989 - 1992 (oil cooled models anyway) known as the Slingshot (look closely under the 1100 decal and you will see the word SLINGSHOT - abbreviated to Slingy by fans). The frame is more curved and thicker and would have to be the most favoured of the GSXR frames plus the tank lines are flat on top and smoother:

GSXF - A totally different beast. Lovingly known as the TEAPOT for obvious reasons! If you imagine the front of the bike is the handle the tail becomes the spout. A teapot bike! (Actually, if you squint, the red part of this one looks like a genie's lamp).

Here ends today's lesson.

Si close but not quite on the money, the 750 slingshot was released in 1988 and the 1100 a year later.

06-03-2008, 05:46 PM
^slabbies were 750 till 87 and 1100 till 88

06-03-2008, 05:48 PM
D'oh , ya beat me 2 it Clive. And you better strap and outboard motor on the Gixxer with all the floods you'll be ridin thru.Flyin solo???

Sorry lads, I wasn't 100% sure on years, even so, I got the info from here just to be sure: http://www.suzukicycles.org/GSX-R-series/GSX-R1100.shtml - I was in the UK back then so I have no idea what the release was over here but where I was this is how it went as far as I remember.

03gixxerpilot
07-03-2008, 05:52 AM
Si thats ok we are as they say only human ;)the 1100 were a year behind the 750's with the oil cooled gsxr's

davo, was going to bring a set on padels, but the outboard sounds far better:D
and no i'm not flying solo:), i am bringing along two novices neither of them been on big rides befor so am going to break it into two days down there, but i will have no mercy on them on the way back[B)], "I" will be doing it in one day and if they can't keep up the pace then they will have to fend for them selves, they are young pups and i ain't no kid no more;)
