These guys had traveled to perth from north Qld only for this to happen to their gsx1100 based probike.the crank came apart and basicly tore the bottom end in HALF fuckin Amazing and he stayed on it was at top speed he said it vibrated and BANG

That's one of the problems with trying to punch out the power they do in the Pro Stock bikes.
Weasel, cranks let go a lot in drag bikes, you should see what some of the Nitro bikes do.[:0]
Rod, no motor is bullet proof with what we do to them.[V]
Flukyluke, these guys don't go much for hp figures, it's all about getting the power to the track without breaking shit. Didn't work out that way this time.

Mono, got nothing to do with starting them off the crank.
That's actually easier on them than trying to use a starter motor & then the engine having to turn the flywheel & shit all the time.
It's more to do with the amount of compression these engines run & the enormous amount of stresses on them ALL the time.
We are almost finished the new engine for ours, 1428cc mtc big block, 14+/1 compression, niiiiice cams, all the good gear including a trued, balanced & WELDED crank.
If ya don't weld them then they'll twist themselves inside out in no time.

It does have to do with starting of the end of the crank they did not run a bearing support at the end of the crank on the back of the starter nut . If you look at all of the other probikes they have this to support the very end of the crank when the hand held starter motor is placed on
