1990 fzr 1000 engine swap

hi guys can anyone tell me if there is a engine that will bolt straight into the fzr 1000 frame i was told by a wreckers that the r1 would but not sure if the guy just wanted to make cash
anyone know if there is one that will let me know cheers :D

I'd be amazed if the R1 was a bolt-in, the engine architecture is completely different and a lot more compact. I'm pretty sure the FZR750 is a drop-in but that's probably now what you're looking for I'd guess :)

yeh discodan i just need to know what will drop into it the engine thats in it is completly f***ked and if the 750 drops in i will probably have to go that way

From memory the 1000 motor slots into the 750 chassis with minimal mods, so the 750 should slot into the 1000 chassis quite easily.

thanks hillsy loks like thats the way i will go i tried to fing a 1000cc engine and seems they are hard to come by cause they are used for race bikes apparently cheers guys

make sure you get the right year as well, the 1000 engine changed after 88...the angle of the engine changed.
try ebay....no one will give a warranty unless they fit the engine themselves.

not 100% sure but check if a thunderace engine will fit

the GTS1000 engine is also the same fit if you find one of those lying around. I'm not sure but I think they were detuned though

lindsay donai had a fzr1000 sidecar engine for sale. he may still have it if you contact him. if your engine was an 88 id get it off you. but if its a 90 its no good to me.

I used to ride with a couple of blokes who had YZF 750s with Fizzer Thou engines in 'em & they were a bolt up fit with some minor clearancing, I'd reckon a YZF 750 lump should slot right in then.
