Need some advice/info from the brains trust here.

Long story short, I need something in the garage to tinker with and the GSX14 is not an option - its just for riding. I was thinking along the lines of buying just a frame to start with and going from there. I have a few models in mind to start with, but dont have a destination or direction for the build at this point - just hold the tools and let it build in its own direction. Im not gonna kid myself by trying to build the worlds best bike - but something I can get my hands dirty with, stuff up here and there, learn from and look respectable when Im done.

Can anyone give me advice, pros and cons, things to watch out for and what I can expect along the way?

That's always a good start mate. There is also a complete GSXR750 frame and running gear around the forum somewhere. Did you want steel tube (Banidt) or aluminium box section (GSXR)? Home welding with steel would be easier?
