Howdy everyone.
Been floating around on PSB for a while now and just purhased my first big bike.

She's a 1997 YZF600R Thundercat and I'm loving the step up from the 250cc little un.

I was really struggling to decide between this bike and an FZ6N I saw for sale at the same time. I ended up buying this but after realizing that the fairing kit is a P.O.S. fibreglass one and not the original plastic...I've decided to make her naked.

So; I've been a long time car enthusiast and am still quite new to the bike scene. I know a couple of guys from PSB who hang around here as well as Hyofighter so I thought I'd stumble across for some support and ideas.

Will scour around for parts, support, ideas, etc. I'll be asking some retarded questions so bear with me while I build up my first customised bike. :)

She's black now, and she'll be staying black. I'm thinking more of a technological look rather than old school, so the first thing on my list will be a funky looking headlight setup, new instrument cluster, some braided lines, some black paint and a new tail.

Any useful comments on what would be an easy fit/straight swap in terms of seat, instrumentation and headlights would be really appreciated. I'm hoping to walk away with a customised naked sports look for around $1 to $2k...here's hoping!!

I'll become a supporting member in the next few weeks and start with the build thread. If experience with cars has anything to tell me, the build will take twice as long, three times as difficult, plenty of swearing and needing to at least double my budget...looking forward to it!!

Cheers.

Dale.

cheers guys, that is one tasty lookin thundercat and def is like what i'm thinking - except i'll likely keep my comfy double seat, but it needs a re-stitch. At least those pics gives me an idea of what to do with the air intakes on either side of the frame once the fairing comes off. Plenty to work on so yes time to get started.

Welcome mate. I think you will find that is a 1994/95 YZF600 frame in the pictures above...??? Very similar to the Thundercat, but it doesn't run ram air - there never were any holes in the frame to deal with...
