My 3/1990 GSXR1100 I thought should have an 1127cc motor, but it has a 1052cc. It also has conventional forks, but I thought 1990 was the first year of USD.

Have I got a "bitsa", or did they come like this to Australia? The Haynes manual I have shows US model with conventional forks up to 1990, but I thought we got UK spec bikes here (or am I barking up the wrong tree???).

Confusing, especially when it comes to chasing parts and ordering bits...

Thanks guys. The frame is 1990!

My engine number starts with U704, which I didn't see in that link. Confusion reigns!

It'd be a '88 1100, 4th version of the 1052

engine number is GU704 yeah ?

G means multiple cylinder sport street
U means 1000-1199cc
7 means 4-stroke, 4 cylinder
04 means 4th variation of that type

Bike should be a GSXR1100 L. Maybe a late K model if something weird happened with the build, but certainly should be a 1127.

Ok, looks like it's had an engine swap in its lifetime - shit happens I s'pose.

Chassis number begins with JS1GV73A8L, which matches up with 1990 L model from that list.
