Since i've introduced the Acerbis LED Vision to the Ninja (horrible light output), i'm in the market for a small set of spotlights/driving lights I can use at nighttime. Hoping to find something that is able to be bracketed to the forks, and around the 70mm size (I want to hide them as much as possible).

have you changed the two main globes in the acerbis unit yet? i did that on an old one i ran a few years ago. went into bunnings and bought a 60w pencil beam and a 60w wide spread and it was actually functional after that

Slain: I tried a pair of 50w in there, resulted in smoke. Apparently the housing doesn't take kindly to too much heat.

Anakist, nice lights. But yeah the $300USD is a bit, pricey. Being LED's, I've heard the technology isn't there to have them beat halogens in projection. So I think i'll be looking for halogen lights.

You can get a lot of lights and globes etc at supercheap these days.

Yeah I had a look at some of the lights. 55w spotlights for $40, seemed almost TOO cheap. My main concern is how to mount them

Jockney, have any luck with yours?

Bike is now up for sale, I'm in need of adding some road-legal headlights on it for roadworthy.

They use H1 halogen globes, the one's I have in stock are all High beam which is a cone type beam, they also come in low beam which is basicly the same light with an internal deflector to cut off the top part of the beam.

Hey Dave light output of a quartz halogen light is a function of reflector effeciency to power input so the smaller (and crapper) the reflector the more power and heat you have to use to get the same light output. Effectivly this means twice the refflector area(assuming the same quallity of reflective surface) gives about a 1/3 more light so trying to get good light output your after out of a 70mm dia refelctor will be a big push, the best option would probably be the lense type setup that EXBEN has and at $100 your prob looking at a resonable price for what it is, There probably not recomended for bigger than 55 watt but if you use high quallity 115 watt globes you will prob get another 25% to 30% light output from them Might be a good idea to add some fins to the metal housing to release some of that extra heat though or you may pop 25$ globes reglarly otherwise.

The other option if your afer a good pinspot light for long distance country road riding at night is to look at good quallity sealed beam lights like aircraft landing lights but the smallest you will find is 75mm they can be found at wattages around 100w in that size and just make a housing.

If you want to improve the LED light output of you headlights on a budget and dont mind a bit of diy try this link, I have setup several of these for pushbikes in the past and For in town they are fine even out of town on the road they do an ok job prob min 2 of them but they still dont have a massive light output, they would shit on what you curently have though.

Last but not least if you want to fry the eyes out of roos at 500m as I like to look at getting yourself on of these globes and with a little work you can fit em to most conventional motorbike reflectors (prob be made to fit EXBEN's setup fairly easly) there only 35 w power draw but being HID have a light output of about a 115w good quallity halogen globe and have a real white light ,$140 is a good price to.

Those Fu An single beams look awesome Ben.

I've got a couple of PIAA 1100X driving lights on my bike and they're beaut for nighttime twisties and whatnot but they're too bright for regular headlight use.
