Hi folks,
I'd love some clarification on the correct tecnique to launching a bike.
on the initial launch, I have always had my left foot on the ground and my right foot on the peg, to cover the rear brake.
I have seen some more skilled riders have their right foot on the ground/ left foot on the peg and also even seen riders drag both feet on the ground!
What are the pros and cons of each tecnique?

Cheers!
Daz.

This is how i did/do it. Manual foot change, i start with my left foot on the peg when launching, so its ready for the gear change. If im using an airshifter with standard peg location i start with both feet on the ground and dont even try to put them on the pegs till i cross the finish line. As it seems to upset the bike mid track getting my feet on the pegs. Now i have very low rear mounted pegs, so i can actually have both feet on the pegs and also have the tips of my boots touching the ground as the xmas tree lights activate.

This might clear a few areas. There is more than one way to do things, I suggest what ever feels more comfortable as they all methods are capable of good times.

"Pull the throttle to tha stoppa and POP the fuckin clutch;) (single finger release prefered but not essential)

any fanning of the clutch is to be considered homosexual."

Ever watched the vids from Brocks racing or any of the fast guys in the US on stock type bikes, they absolutely kill clutches but pull some fast times, they usually start at 5-8000rpm and ride the clutch out , front wheel ~50mm off the deck, looks smooth as silk done right.
OzKat how do the low pegs feel? thats on my list ,rear pegs on the swingarm, toes on the ground and airshifter.but for now right foot on the ground left ready to shift.

its different for everyone and your application.. Personally i use 2 feet on the ground, and i pull the left up slightly before the right, mainly for gear change.

Use your your weight, push it far over the tank as possible, almost stand up, and just get on the tank.. so the bars are in your chest.. bring the revs up, dump the clutch. it will help keep the front down, and your legs can help you stabilise..

Hope this helps..

PS: this is for HARD launching.. wouldnt do it on a daily basis..
