what is the purpose of this? Is it to stop extra heat coming off after the fairings are stripped? Does it make any difference to performance? It looks like crap anyway I reckon!

It's to keep the exhaust gasses hot so they flow fast out of the exhaust and pull the following gasses with them.

If the exhaust gas cools it shrinks (chemistry 101) and slows down in the exhaust, blocking the following exhaust pulses.

btw I think it looks cool on the right application so ner!

lol chemistry 101, so why not run double walled headers? I agree with the application thing some of it looks shit.

ive seen some really ratty ones though, but the chemistry lesson has been noted =)

Not trying to be a smart arse, but wouldn't that be physics 101 ? Wrapped pipes look good on Rat / survival / chops but fighters meehh....

I thought physics was all about pulling frictionless cars up slopes and working out resultant forces while chemistry was the study of matter in its different forms - solid-liquid-gas...?

Maybe thermo-dynamics??

your talking about fluid dynamics really

i think heatwrappings cool, but you miss out on that cool rainbow of colours you get on a bare set of aftermarket headers [B)]

It's also to keep them constantly wet so that everything rusts up like a motherfucker (motherfuckers are very rusty).
