Hi guys i have been mucking around for a while and finaly have some time to work on this.

It is a 1100 93 first of the water cooled.

I have installed the following

R6 tail
pods then dyno tuned
Acewell dash
Bar risers.

Am now puting in a vfr 800 swing arm on it which is looking harder since i now realise i heve to loose 35mm in width. 275mm down to 240mm!! The numbers add up like this.

13mm off the lug on the right side of the frame

17mm off the right side of the swingarm the recess the bearings further in.

5mm off the left side of the swingarm

Then i need to space the front or rear sprocket out/in 5mm

Has anyone taken more off the right side of the swingarm without making it too weak?? Another 5mm would get me out of trouble.

I intend to raise the tail about another 50mm at the rear.

Any feed back or comments would be great.

Nick

I think it was 107hp at the wheels. That was with the pods and a stainless yoshi exhaust.

Looks good but its unpossible to put that swing arm in that frame;)
I've done it and Exben has done it.
Dont know how Ben did it but i didnt touch the frame, all the work is on the sssa. Should be some pics in my build thread. Good luck:D

Mate i've lost all the pics of this exact mod that ben did to mine :(

But i can tell you he cut off the right hand pivot point completely and then rebuilt the arm to fit.

Yes we took off the lug on the left inner frame.

And we now have the sprocket on the inside of the carrier and i think he machined it a little as well.

We didnt have to space the front sproket at all.

You will also have to mod your shock mount if your using a vfr shock.

Lathe boy
I only saw one photo on your thread and it looked like you machined off the side of the swingarm at the pivot so you could "see inside" Did you then weld up the side again? I would love some photos if you had a coupple. How much did you take off each side?

Also latheboy how did you move the sprocket to the other side of the carrier. The socket head bolts are very close to the excentric adjuster? Did you need to machine any materal off the carrier?

Thanks damo for the info.

Spewing you lost the photos it would have helped a lot.

I am reluctant to mod the frame and would rather just mod the swingarm but it just dosent look like there is emough meat on the pivots on the swingarm to machine off (Latheboy???)

If I have to mod the frame i will. I just hope i dont fuck it up!!!

Regarding shocks and linkages what actual shocks did you guys use and did you have to make new linkages? My plan is to use the vfr linkages and a R1 shock. I also have a cbr 1000 and the vfr shock so have a few options.

Exben if you are floating around any help would be much appreciated

Thanks guys will post up some photos as i am working on it.

Mate we used all the orig vfr800 linkages/shock we tried an R1 shock but couldnt get the ratio right and went back to the vfr shock and it was sweet straight away.

Ben made heaps of link plates and fucked around for a bit and got really pissed off with trying to get the R1 shock to work.

The spring ratio was just way to soft and wouldnt hold the weight of the bike.

Yeah i'm really pissed off about the pics cause there not replaceable.

Weve been having heaps of problems between the camera and computer and the pics just left the camera and didnt get to the computer and just disappeared into thin air, :(

I'm happy to take pics for you of closeups of the bike now if you need/want them.

Latheboy wasn't really that forthcoming with any real info when we did mine, think he's keeping his cards close to his chest.

Mate cheers for the shock info. It gives me a start in the right direction.

I would love some close up photos of the set up if that is not too much trouble?

Cheers

Ben are you out there??????

The whole set up would be great. Some pics of the rear sprocket, shock set up and where the swingarm mounts to the frame.

Thanks

Thanks for the photos damo.

The swingarm is being machined I decided on

-2mm on the sprocked side
-20mm on the opposite side
-12mm off the lug on the frame on the Right side.

Hopefully will be back next week. I really want to hassle them to do it quickly but for beer tokens i cant complain ;)

Bullshit dude i only thing i didnt tell you was dimensions which i cant remember.

Anyway i forget which thread this was in, thats why i havnt been back ...
I machined both sides of the swinger and welded plates in everywhere and rebored the bearing holes. I dont remember how much come off each side. You have to weld a piece in between the two bearing mounts for get the strength back.
I used a CBR954 2002/3 shocker. And made a top shock mount. the shock is not center to the bike by 10mm.
I machined the carrier where the sprockets mount (inside) ??mm and i machined a step on the sprocket for clearance to the tensioner.
I didnt move the front sprocket.

umm cant think of anything else.

Bang some pics up when you get the swinger back.

Mate all you sent me was a email with a scetch on it and said something like "You wouldn't give me any more info for nothing"or something along those lines.
Sort of implied you want to be paid for it.
Ben was more than helpful, if your after info he'd be the one to speak to Lous;)

I disagree Damo but this isn't the place to discuss this mater.

Back to the build Lous....

Back to the build guys :D

Last weekend insatlled a 07 gsxr 1000 front end :D

I will make some custom triples soon but just want to get the bike ridable with the new front and rear end then strip her down for powder coat etc.

See photos below

Just a couple of mods had to make new stops so the forks didnt hit the frame. Just drilled and trapped the bottom triple.

Pressed out the old stem installed into the 1000 bottom triple.

used the old bearings just had to turn up a sleve for the top triple because the top of the old stem is 22mm not 28mm like the 1000.

All pretty easy. Should have the swingarm back this arvo and get it in over the weekend.

I did some drawings on Cad a while back to work out the amount of cutting required. I can try an find it again and send you a clearer image if you like.

Looking good. Did the R6 tail take much to fit? I'm tossing up R1, R6 or GSXR1000 for my '90 GSXR1100 project.

Thanks.

Right here are some photos

I have mounted the swinger. All looks good. The chain is lined up with the help of a 2.5 mm spacer on the front sprocket.

Had to take a 12mm lug of the right frame and 3mm off the left side. The wheel is now about 5mm off centre to the right (looking foward) will fix this later.

I am now welding up a really ugly top shock mount out of steel to get the top shock mount height right and static sag etc

I have a rear wheel prob i can fit a 17 x 7 because i cant move the swingarm to the left any further. So my only options are

Custom wheel from dragway $2000
17 x 6 car wheel which i cant find
Ducati style single nut rear conversion then find some ducati mv etc wheels

Crozzaria rear wheel kit conversion. $2000.

or live with the boring vfr wheel.

Decisions decisions.

Looks good .... Id be having a look at the rear sets soon, there's not much clearance there.
I spaced mine out 10mm so i had plenty.
