Just realized that I have yet to put up a post on my bike.

Got an Acewell gauge on its way, to fit snugly behind the new front.

the one with the LED's, it's an Acerbis LED Vision.
One downfall is its actual headlights are not much better than a couple of candles. I'm going to try upgrading the globes to 34w ones (standard is 20w each).

Otherwise, two driving lights on either side of the headlight.

I got it for the look anyway :)

Hey Dave, nice bike, man...
as for this stuff...

I've got one of the older style acerbis rip-off jobs on mine, and I changed out the MR16 down-lights to 50W each from the stock 20W. I also got one at 38° flood beam and another at 10° pencil beam... makes a massive difference.

I don't know if they generate more heat, or the same as the 20W ones, someone brainier than me might be able to tell you that... but that'd something for you to keep an eye on considering there's that plastic layer over the top of yours...

anyway, good luck dude... lookin' sick.

P.S. Black seats would look the biz. My $0.02...

Not a bad idea holyman... biggest problem is, these are only MR11's, and 35w is the highest i can go, apparently 50w will melt the housing.

I'm open for suggestions, but my running idea is spotties on the sides, just something to get me back onto the nighttime road.

Not bad dave, i agree wif everyone else too mate, the seats need to be black. Can't wait to see the update photos. Ya should come up our way ( Ballarat )and we should organise a ride. I'm pretty sure Kev and Yoda can be convinced...

Disturbed_Dave

Mishdog: If interested, there's another fire appeal ride happening on the 14th Feb (Check the VIC section, i've posted a topic there).
Seems like it's getting pretty big, with sponsorships from Peter Stevens, Red Bull, etc...

Otherwise, would be good to finally meet up with some of the people off here.

Pics up end of the weekend hopefully, when I get around to picking them up!

Get two 50w 10deg globes and run one low and one high beam.
When I had them both on low they melted stuff but just one is good enough for general riding and won't overheat.

I've got a couple 34w globes here, they're the ones that melted the surround. Might try using only the one, curious as to if having 2 on while riding would damage it? One would think the cool air passing over it would counteract the heat given off by them.

You're not supposed to fill them with oil :D

And cut down your front guard!

Disturbed_Dave

Hahaha... Not oil, I don't think. Oily/Greasy substance, MAY be from tapping lubricant from when I had a thread tapped into my triple clamp. Will check it out shortly

Hmmmmmm, not sure about the cut down guard, but your bike has settled a long running argument with myself about blacking out the wheels + frame.
Have you found having the radiator coated in black to cause higher temps? Thats the only thing that has stopped me doing the exact same...

Hillsy

It was black from the factory on the 9R. No cooling problems either with or without fairings.

The Green Machine is no more... RIP

Photos to follow.

Going through a T-intersection, B-Double turning left at the stem, myself going straight. Women from that stem turning right, couldnt see what was on the other side of the truck, so figured she'd test her chances. Unfortunately that decision left me doing a couple of flips over her bonnet.

Walking away with a swollen + bruised ankle, chipped wrist, sore lower back and one very very tender + bruised nut... I consider myself very lucky.

A lesson for everyone: EVERYONE on the road should be treated as a fuckwit... Ride careful guys.

Bike will not be repairable. Tank has been ripped from the frame leaving holes (used to be threads), subframe is twisted, all plastics are destroyed, bars most likely bent, radiator bent + punctured, front wheel is gone, forks are bent.

Sad to say it will be a write-off, unsure whether I'll be jumping in the saddle straight away.

She has admitted blame, stating that 'she didn't know what was on the other side of that truck'. Well no shit, otherwise you would've seen me!

Best tip there is to find ads for comparable bikes...'fightered not stock, so you can show market value.
Maybe some on here can put up their ZX9's with 'for sale' ads and prices that you could print off ;)

That sucks balls mate. Always a shame to see a ninja down. Glad to hear you came out alright.

So whats your next project?

sharky
17-03-2010, 12:23 PM
It works too mate. The insurance company has to pay you the market value of your machine.
My custom framed FJ12 was valued at 5 grand but they offered the price of a stock '89 1200.
Showed them loads of pics from Streetfighters and BSH and they had to come to the party...it was insured as a full custom as well.

Disturbed_Dave
17-03-2010, 12:51 PM
Market value on my bike is around 6.5 - 7.2k, apparently. I'd be happy with 7500 IF i keep the bike.

I've had my mechanic write up a declaration that the bike's worth before the accident was 8k, and wants me to pass on his details to them so he can talk to them about it. See how it goes..

Might be hanging up the helmet for a bit, thinking the next project will be a jetski.

RULE NUMBER ONE before you ever go out on public roads on a mototrcycle:

EVERYONE on the road should be treated as a fuckwit.

No ifs, no buts.....
