Fella's - Im having some trouble finding a rear alloy sprocket to suit my ride. Does anyone know where in Aus I can get one at a reasonable price?

Im thinking to drop a couple of teeth for improved top end power (45 on at the moment and want to get a 43 tooth sprocket), although I have people telling me I need to go up in teeth to get the "take off" power??

I think I need to go down in size - Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks

Increasing the size of the rear will make acceleration quicker but drop top speed and increase revs ie at 100kph on gearing say 5000rpm, new gearing 100kph maybe 5500rpm.
Smaller rear sprocket will do the opposite of the above.

If you change front sprocket size the above rules are reversed.

Ahhhh, thanks Sharky, I do more street riding than freeway, so higher revs wouln't matter.

So by changing the rear to say 48 tooth (from 45) will give me better acceleration?

Yep...if in doubt just look at the stunt boys rear sprockets...they're huge...for massive acceleration...

as for the alloy option make sure you get one that is hard anodised otherwise it wont last long and you can get renthal ,vortex, chaingang and the list goes on mate from your local bike shop or look on us ebay

Yep, I`m with the Renthal too. Their hard anodised sprocks are good.

Mind you, have you guys got SuperSprox over there ?
Mixture of alloy "subframe" with a steel teeth ring.
Got the looks and the longevity ;)

Yep they are that.

I just bought a SuperSprox after going with Renthal for years.
Renthal costs around £27 for a standard rear and the SuperSprox cost me £56.

Yes we can do custom sprockets for $140-$250 ($140 for standard style up to about 50 tooth,to $250 for custom style 70 tooth) so not the cheapest around although we can do whatever style/pitch/tooth you want. Made from non-chinese 7075 ally.
