Well project B12 is on hold for now, reason being I went and bought myself an 2000 R1, this use to be new ASF member Flukyluke's steed, so with the sale of the Street Triple and my puppie rottie on the mend i decided to spend the change on the r1 and begin another project...

Sheds getting a little crowded now, need to put trailer outside but dogs keep eating wiring till so she stay inside till i can work out a gate, bandits still in progress, The motard seems to be gathering a little dust, now all my attention will be on the R1..

Shopping List has begun... purchased these last night.. Obligatory Bike Manual, New Stator Cover I was going to go bling but decided on OEM for now maybe paint or polish later, and seen as though the pillion pegs will be going bye bye, I picked up a exhaust bracket..

I thought i'd have a crack at maybe making my own headlight, seen as though all the headlights i'd consider buying from various places around the world are priced from $450 to $700, I was considering trying to make a mould and having a crash course in fibre glassing.. so to kick things off i spent a whopping $35 at office works on 2kgs of white plasticine and some shaping tools.. bear in mind I HAVE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE.. so this is my first attempt.. comments welcome..

I'll have to go get some headlights from supercheap or autobarn and remake the whole unit on the front of the bike, for size reference and so on..
this was just a trial run to see if i was any good at shaping plastacine...

looking good mate and if you want good lights you are better off buying projectors you can get hella ones for about $90 each i think from memory and they are easy to mount

Postman came today, 2003 R1 Black forks, i was going to go later model with radials but funds wouldn't permit
at the moment so i'm happy with 03 set.. think i might paint the calipers gloss black too, i'm not a fan of the blue dot on them..

Hey Wack, left side stator cover and right side oil pump cover are both a little grazed,
got another oil pump cover to paint, and a new stator cover.. just trying to freshin it up a little..

so far not much mate, I'm going to take lights off the R1 and mount a board on there and try and construct it from scratch i think, bit like below... this one is of the Showyomoto boys making the Iron Man headlight.. no harm in trying, if it worked for them hey..

You been put on hold for a while? bummer man...

With ya headlight project you could shape it out of foam, then glass it, dig the foam out of the back and that way you don't have to worry about a mould.. just think'in out loud. and I resized my foto's

Bike was down on the left side when i got it, and the marks are pretty deep. How bad is yours? and how much do u want for it? Also how much was the gasket for it?

Man I really really just want to buy the light I want but at nearly $500 I'll give anything a shot.. not sure i'm confident with either method (foam or plasticine) still got lots of edumaciting to do.. but i'll be winging it i think.. need to do more research.. do you know if you can just buy little fibreglass kits?? and were do i get some of this foam? cheers mate..

Mines not in the best shape either Jules, but your welcome to have it and give it a spray with maybe some putty and paint.. I just took easy option and got new one.. theres some nice billet ones on fleabay too.. My gasket was $8 from Us i think but i got it with all my other clutch parts and gaskets.. here i think there about $19. When I replace the cover, pm me your address and i'll send the cover to you if its in better shape use it if not bin it.. no good to me.. :D

Hey, any of the surfboard shops, i'm talking about where they make'em not where you buy'em should be able to help you out with resin and glass, they may not have chopstrand, just 4oz or 6oz. Also foam, just ask if they have any nose or tail offcuts, they get them all the time and there should be some that you could use. If you can't get any, let me know and i'll post one down.

Nothing major.. but mailman came today with my 01 Swingarm in heaaaps better nick than the one i got.. mines got a little dint on one brace and a gouge on one of the welds and im a fussy fooker so i found this on US ebay $80, granted $120 shipping but $200 for a mickey mouse swinger im rather chuffed, all the parts are starting to pile up, need to start working on her i think..

Nothing too major, painted bottom of 03 forks ready to fit, and tidied up and glossed blacked the calipers..
came up pretty good i think.. just need an axle and front fender and she will all just bolt on..

Hiya Surt, its 11am here now, trailers just for my 4 dogs to take to the beach, only other use is for when mates borrow it, dogs good with cage there just happy to be driving along with tongues wagging[:p]..

Finally started to attack the R1, got a little motivation and a little mooney to spend on her..

And here she is ready for new steering head bearings and a little black treatment for the triples, and am waiting on some Renthal risers, Black Renthal fatbars, extended clutch cable, Black HEL braided lines, and some skully handgrips.. then will fit the 03 forks and my freshly blacked calipers.. all new pads, bearings, fender axle.. etc etc.

Rod - Ummmm don't quote me but I think by memory the 03 forks are maybe 10-15mm shorter and the spring rate is a little stiffer, apparently a worth while upgrade, i pretty much did it cos i wanted black forks, and they were good price, good nick and its an easy conversion, I'm thinking one day down the track a sssa and a 06- radial front end[:p] ..

So after my stuff up ordering wrong risers, my new ones rocked up so i fitted them and the Renthal fatties to my shiny yokes, put my new switch gear on, new levers, my awesome BXP resi, the 03 forks and my shiny new dominators that I kept of the Bandit.. pics are poo cos twas dark, when wheel is back on i'll take some sunnies..

Looking nice and tidy there Gitzy. But my opinion is loose the twin spots and put on a different headlight. I hated them on mine as well but it was all i had and couldn't afford anything else at the time

no movement on the bandit bar a kreem job on the tank gitzy,work went to shit..rear foot rest mount's on the sub,quick paint job on the frame ect and i can finally drop the motor back in,then it's 95% done. new job monday so fingers crossed !

Another little update.. tidied up the top of the engine, fitted new oil pump cover and some stainless bolts along with new clutch cable holder.. waiting on extended clutch cable to come in post then i'll pull my finger out and fit new clutch kit give the clutch cover a freshen up, and keen to get stuck into headers, they'll be just getting the black fix for now i think and i'll have to purchase a new slip on when funds allow.

Mail Man Came today, brought with him, Hel Braided Lines, Extended clutch cable and new 03 front fender.. well chuffed to have something to do on me holidays.. now other than a gauge bracket i need to make and some indicators purchased the front end is complete..

Ok just dumped the oil and pulled the clutch out.. Just finished respraying clutch cover.. Will soak fibre plates tonight and refit new clutch tomorrow.
Also fitted another new engine cover and some tidy new stainless bolts.. Its coming together nicely and I've got heaps done in my holidays.

next on the list..
*chain & sprockets - still deciding black/gold/chrome/silver.. not sure yet..
*clean a shit load
*respray headers
*03 rear shock mounted
*new swingarm and bearings fitted
*new rear wheel bearings
*respray rear caliper

Cheers Wack.. well just went to fit my new clutch, all was going well until I tried fitting the cover back on, and that stupid fuckeddy retarded fucking pullrod kept not going where it was suppose to (R1 owners would know what i'm bitching bout) well i ended up tearing the new gasket didn't I, so I just ordered an untearable (supposedly) cometic gasket.. should be here in a week or so.. grrrrrr.

Got a bit of work done today.. ready to install new swinger, chain, sprockets, new BXP Resi (cheers Ben).. have a bit of a clean up all round.. spray headers, buy zorst.. just ordering a whole heap of bolts from tasty nuts right now. ahh patience..

Thanks Lads, still shitty at you though Swordsy ;).. Well todays adventure consisted of exciting stuff indeed, cleaned the rear rim.. wow you say:D.. fitted the All Balls rear bearing kit and isn't that roller bearing a fckin cnt to get out.. well done and done anyway.. new sprocket and shiny stainless nuts fitted also.. still waiting on chain and various other things.. will pull rear shock out and remove swinger tomozzo..

Ok the fun continues.. I'm happy just to have cleaned everything and installed new bearings and seals everywhere, its good to breathe new life into it. and when
all thats done i'll start concentrating on little bits here and there.. and paint etc..
