Ok, haven't posted for a bit. I've been busy finishing off my ride.

She's almost done just a few bugs to work out... I keep melting my boot to the new exhaust... :(

Still waiting for more cash for powercommander and dyno time for a remap...

Hey mate that is looking great! pipe looks sensational. I dig the flat bars, did you drill the top clamp?? What did you do with the front guard? is it a chopped stocker or a replacement??

What is going on with the right side engine case??????

Good work, hasnt taken you long either. Wasnt it orange a month or two ago??

After buying those pipes I'm too broke for anything aftermarket so thats a chopped down stock zx12r guard. I've got a mate with a stock VTR800. He cries whenever I start hacking into perfectly good fairings... I get a buzz out of it...

Yeah she used to be orange - but I got bored with it so crashed my bike.

The triple clamp is a stock clip-on but machined, drilled and reinforced by the boys at Bushnell engineering. The exhaust is from Motorcycle Exhuast Professionals - loud as fuck. The front guard and rear dovetail are stockers just cut down and fibreglassed. I got 5 inches of lift at the rear through a small chassis mod if you look hard you can see (Its not that subtle -just painted black - need to make a fibreglass cover for em).

The wirings still a pig, I cant see ANYTHING out of those mirrors that clutch case is STILL munted from the first fighter build up but these are things I'm hoping to take care of over the next couple of weeks. Tired of working on this bike as this was a round the clock build with work in between and I am still rooted.

Ah the ol subframe bracket trick eh......

You have done well on a budget mate. you have plenty of time to tidy things up slowly.

Just stay away from the local dogs now, will ya!

The blade is definately going after chrissy. I need me a 12.

It's big black and bitchin and i likes it i do.

I would defo do the wheels black and try and get some black coating on that exhaust pipe that curls round by the foot rest but that's all.

As us brits would say thats mustard mate

20-12-2006, 11:43 AM
Paint my the last bit of chrome on my bike black???
Nooooooo!
I'm thinking that at some stage I'll replace the spray can matt black with 2Pac gloss black and see how it looks. At least that way I can put a clear satin coat over it if i'm not happy.

zx12argh
03-01-2007, 03:08 PM
i think i'm ditching those mirrors - I can see about an inch out of the right one if i bend my elbow in...

Watto
03-01-2007, 04:08 PM
mate for mirrors try the crg lanesplitters ( have them on my bike and view out of them is pretty good) or have a look at the oberon bar ends Stu does

looks great, and yeah you definately need to fashion a heat shield for that pipe:)

wicked m8 wher d you get the rear light ?

zx12argh
04-01-2007, 10:03 AM
Hey Watto - had bar ends before - MCS ones - didn't like the fact they added about an extra foot to the width of the bike - had to ride the bike like a dirt bike through traffic - do you have a link for those CRG mirrors?

Hey Shift - The undertray is made completely from heat shielding - my computer and power regulator sit above the exhaust - I'd hate to think what it would cost me if I melted my computer....

Hey Frank - I got the light from Austreetfighters. At night it lights the rear tyre up like a neon.

shift1313
04-01-2007, 11:02 AM
yeah, i meant a heat shield for your foot:) I would hope you dont like melting computers, that could be a more expensive hobby then motorcycles ;)

Watto
04-01-2007, 11:29 AM
mate link to CRG is http://www.constructorsrg.com/mirrors/hindsight_ls.html

They fold in on a pivet mount on the bar end so they are then no wider than your bars - i got the 2 inch ones so only stick out 50mm a side - all parts are replaceable on them in case of any damage

I think the oberon ones Stu sells at aussiestreet fighters for bar ends can either mount horizontally off the bar end or vertically so next to no overhang - these are here

Quote from the manufacturer "The lightweight but sturdy construction allows the Hindsight Mirror to be positioned for optimal viewing without concern of movement during high speed runs or excursions over rough roads."
The last bar end mirrors I used fell off at 220... I was so need for speed ;)

Thanks Watto I'll see if my bank account can still be squeezed a bit more...

Watto
04-01-2007, 12:35 PM
mate have had these on mine to around the occasional 230 mark and their still on there :D

your bike looks great - had a mate who binned his 12 a while back - could be a good conversion project for him to do something different

Errrr... yeah.... Fuck my old socks too !?!?!?!?!? [?]
If that's what "That's a top looking bike" means in proper English. :D;)[:o)]
I've only seen one other 'Fightered 12 & I like this one better, the proportions are nicer. [:p]
Gotta agree with Alfie about painting the connecting pipe black though, it sort of sticks out a bit & it'd help it look like it wasn't there.
I can't help thinking that a naked ZX12/'Busa would be an awesome high speed 'Fighter, MEGA grunt & a decent amount of weight & wheelbase to make them a lot more friendly & forgiving than a Gixer/ZX10.

Thanks for the comments - keep em coming - my ego needs a good stroking ;)

Though I'm going to say nyeah to the painting the conecting pipes - Its one of those you have to see it to appriciate it things. I like black bikes with just a touch of chrome - i'm sussing out stripping the entire bike - engine and all and spraying it one solid colour - after i get my new clutch cover - come on Team Moto - hurry up

Thanks mate, I'm thinking colour change at the mo - though have to wait until my mates workshop/spray booth is finished.

Black is bad ass but any suggestions for colour? I was thinking deep cherry red metailic.

Something similar to Cammy's beast: http://www.streetfighters.com.au/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=901&whichpage=5

Cammy, where are you mate? There's a few more Scots on here for you to talk to now as well!

zx12argh
15-01-2007, 12:37 PM
Yeah that was my thought exactly... Tho I think i have come up with a scheme.

A deep candy green - sort of like the official kwaka green but with a real crystal edge to it - then chrome my wheels and powdercoat the front forks etc...

Have to wait for insurance payout first to know my budget.

shift1313
15-01-2007, 11:22 PM
the deep green from the 97 tl1000s was a nice color. Ive always like lucifer orange though:). My kaw is going blue/green/white. ala tsukigi zrx.

I hate choosing colours - I once gave a panel shop the wrong paint code - lucky for me it came out looking better then the colour I had chosen.

I think I'm going to take the bike back into the garage and fab some more panel work - belly pan and new light assembly before the paint job.

Pics when I can.

I quite like the black mate,in a sort of post apocalyptic Mad Max type way.

shift1313
17-01-2007, 10:09 PM
thinking about it some more, a bright green would really set off that gold on the front and wheels :)

Thought I'd get around to showing you guys what I have been up to. The R1 tail piece after a LOT of massaging is almost sorted. The seat has been remoulded repadded and retrimmed and works better then ever. Sorry about the quality of the shots but best I could do at the mo. Just a little more work (about a weeks work straight of prep probably) and she will be ready for colour.

Oh and this is my 500th post [8D] Enjoy!

Nice shaping mate. I bet you've had it with sanding and dust by now hey?

zx12argh
27-03-2007, 11:04 PM
That took about 3 days to get there - a lot was just waiting for stuff to dry tho. But yeah - I spent all day sunday bogging and sanding till I got those lines just right. The photos don't really do it justice.

Just put these shots under SE riders section but thought I would share with everyone else.

I've now cleaned up underneath the tray (you cant see) but got the tail almost ready for paint. Just one more day of prep and I can just ride the fucker instead of working on it. Ignore the blue colour - thats just filler...

Next stage after colour is sort a belly pan then have a crack at making moulds from the tailpiece... she's a little heavy right now.
