Alright guys, and especially Ben, this is long overdue. Here's what the triples and discs look like mate. Took it for it's first real run today and nearly lost it! Front wheel slide. Luckily, slow speed let me kick it back up, and the best part is I was trying to keep up with Cath! She joined a few weeks back and lives here on the coast. She said she'd come out on the next run we do around this way. Geez, she can ride! The old Gix had a hard time in the corners compared to her ZXR. (No, that isn't a kwaka comment opportunity Rexie, or Turbo come to think of it....). Anyway, back to the subject. here's some photos when i got back about half an hour ago. Cheers Ben, they look a treat mate and bloody hell, do they pull you up or what! Best braking this bike has ever seen I can tell you.:

Looks great, mate. Triples and buzz rotors definately set the whole bike off. I Like the look. But if you had clip ons instead of the girly sit-up-an'-beg handle bars, you wouldn't have nearly lost it :D :D

(oh boy am i gunna get hammered now)

Lookin good Gix,
I like the light better that way & them triples look nice & beefy.
Couple of suggestions - turn your front brakelines around 180 deg, put a little arrow above the Degenerate sticker that points backwards & up, get some sexy braided oil cooler lines, then sell it & get a Kawasaki [:0]

If it was Cath Thompson of 125 GP fame, you're lucky you even saw which way she went. :)

Party Pooper, [V] I was going to say, every Gixer 1100 has a hard time keeping up with a ZXR 250 but I won't now. ;)

Cheers lads, in response:

Large: Shit mate, is that what it is? I was wondering why there is a light coming from under the garage door every night....

Davo: This is the first time I've pushed it with this configuration and I'm not comfortable with it. I've been using these tyres for a few years (including the Fools Runs) and had no problems until today. The oil cooler is on the list. As for the old forks, do you want them?

Turbo: That is obviously just the centre of that crappy light unit I already had and it's only on there to put out some kind of light until my new unit arrives from Germany soon. The brake lines got put on, but I had a shit fight with the new disc conversion which took a few weeks and in the hassle of doing that I forgot all about the brake lines. You have just reminded me I was going to do exactly that!

Pilot: Yea mate. looks like I'll be in for a rear disc next as well, kinda looks shit without it to balance the front. (yea Ben, call up your mate).

I have just been studying it again and I really don't like those bars. Anyone know of any fat bars that are straight? Just flat across like drag bars? Those bars curve in too much at that rotation and any more means leaning out forward and upwards too far, and apart from that they make the front look too high.

Willow: Clip-ons? Go and wash your mouth out.

Now you might find this amazing coming from me, but I'm also over the plain satin black already. Gloss is too simple and I'm actually thinking of something a bit louder, even a burnt orange. Anyone seen some interesting paint jobs that are kinda in between if you know what i mean? Cammy, this is your fault mate!

Ramset Orange?
Cadbury Purple?
Blue Vein Blue?
Mundy and Davo Blue?
Hammertone Copper?
English Moontan Cream?

And everyone knows the light's coming from your 3000 plant hydro setup :)

Gix11

Sorry Gix, I like black on a bike too, be it matt through to gloss but sometimes you need a little colour [8D].
16,000,000 colours.

Choose 1.

02-06-2006, 09:22 AM
It's got color, all them chromy bits, and those headlights definitely have an orange tinge to'em, That's enough. :).

02-06-2006, 06:16 PM
I'll take them old forks instead of the shirt.Give me a run down on what ya USD's are doing mate, chances are they have more preload than your old 1's in which ya rear push's ya front, might be as simple as increasing ya rear ride height or decreasing ya front compression dampening. But really need to know what its doing before i can try an help diagnose.
as for paint,my neighbour is just a paint guru and loves Gixxers,so if ya lookin for a special finish and a special price just gimme a buzz and i'll let him know.he works on a barter basis too, cost me 2 windows repairs to have my tank, seat unit, front hugger and wheels to be painted.he also loves cash.

If you had clip-ons, you'd be able to bring the forks through a couple cm's, put more weight on the front and stop those slides. I got a set, mate. You can have 'em if ya want. :D

Trying to give Gix11 some clipons..... now thats funny.

Gix11
02-06-2006, 10:18 PM
Willow. See those clip ons? Stick 'em up your arse. I'd rather slide than do clip ons. Why do you think i don't want a proddy bike? Chers anyway bloke. The slides slow me down. Thanks to modified bikes I'm still alive.

Gix11
02-06-2006, 10:22 PM
Davo. Why do you want the forks mate? $25 for a set of forks isn't my best offer, but if you really want them, I'll do it for you. You've helped blokes out here so I'll do the same back, just curious why you want them mate?

Large
02-06-2006, 10:31 PM
because he's an abo and he wants a couple of new spears?

03-06-2006, 09:34 AM
na sell em to someone else mate,$25 would be robbery. My left fork has a nic(from stones being thrown) but i'll polish it out if i need to.got a set of 96 model tripples so i'm goin for USD's too. Thanks anyway mate.

Nice and tidy bike, mate! Now I can understand that you where after a new "headlight set up", though.
Appart from the suspension set up- I am wondering whether you changed the geometry at all. Are the forks the same lenghts (the fork legs stick out a fair bit already), the offset changed with the yokes, or something?

Righto mate, stickin' 'em there as i type. [:0]

Go the drag bars Gix, they speak 'serious intent' [}:)]. Standard width ones are good, what I was using on the Fool's run, but the extensions give them a whole new feel (plus dropping the risers an additional 3 centimeters). Something almost thuggish in the feel.[8D]

Good for the soul ;)

Gix11
04-06-2006, 10:22 PM
Willow, only one at a time mate.
Chalky, yea, ran drags before but risers are made to fat bar size and wanted to find something to fit them rather than change them.

04-06-2006, 10:26 PM
Try the Harley place in Sydney (Natli's), they were going to do a set of fat bars for me a couple of months ago, pressed down for my 7/8 mountings where necessary.

Ben made a spacer for my risers (a tube that fits around the bars to fatten them), fat bar looks, but more choice to get the right bars.

The petro chemical stuff burns, so I'm told. [:I]

I can help if you want, used to give 'suppositories' in a previous career. Whether they willing or not [}:)]

Hey Gix, House of Kolor paints from the US make some fantastic colours in candy, pearl, solids & even fleuros, I don't know who sells it up your way but well worth checking out. You mentioned orange, have a look at Tangelo pearl,I have a full litre sitting here looking for a home. By the way the earlier offer still stands.
