SUPRISE! Here I am to say hi.

Yeah Billy, the site has only been up for a couple of weeks, and so far the overall response has been fairly good. Problem with getting o'seas visitors at the moment though. I want to make one thing clear while I'm here, I'm not trying to steal members, (been accused of that on another forum. Cough gixxer.com cough), but trying to make people aware of www.motorcycle-performance-forum.com

Gix11, your site looks good. Any comments or suggestions for my forum?

Tech.

Hey Tech. Ok, here's a question. Your forum is called Motorcycle Performance right? So, do I take it from that you are into performance mods for Sportsbikes, as in you do upgrades to bikes and know of really good tips and where to source parts for these machines that will improve their performance? If not, there is your first problem. Content. You will be relying on people coming into your forum to answer questions left by other people, and this will make or break you mate.

I started the Aussie Streetfighters forum because it is an area I knew about after building a few efforts in England and knowing a lot of the top builders at the time. I wanted to see a Streetfighters website myself so I could carry on my love of them over here in Aus but after coming to Australia I found there there was nothing - most people had no idea what I was on about, so I found a hole and filled it. I could answer peoples questions and point them in the right direction and supply photos or modified bikes that they were trying to emulate. This gave me some credibility and drew more people to the site. This in turn attracted people in other fields (engineers / spray painters / turbo specialists) that I was unfamiliar with and broadened the whole sites appeal.

If you want your site to work, realise what the name entails and if it is not your area of expertise find someone who is willing to do that job for you and give your site some life.

As for the physical workings of the site, as I mentioned before, that security code thing is a bastard when signing up and if I had been on a computer with no speakers I would never have been able to get in. As for the look of it all, it's very cool and slick..... although I would suggest making yourself a logo to give you an identity mate.

I have recently helped another member start another website which again was filling a gap in the internet and his site has gone through the roof already. Remember, if the hole is already filled you are just going to be a spare and need to try even harder to make people need you.

Well, I'm a dual tradie. Firts trade is bike mechanic, second is a fitter machinist. I worked on the WSB with Yamaha. Started with Edwards, finished with Haga. So in response to your first question, yes, I have the knowledge to beable to offer sound mechanical and performance advice. I'm expecting other people to share their knowledge on the forum as well.

I've removed the security code on the forum for the registration until I can develop or find another eaiser to read version. I checked it ou, and you were right. What a pain in the arse!

I'm really trying to attract some o'seas members at the moment. Any idea's?

Mate, you have everything going for you then - Good work!

Which overseas area are you looking at mate as they all have their own special interest websites. Have you put a call out in Oldskoolsuzuki? Also, if you haven't already, mention what you just did in that last post as that will get you some interest straight up!

There are members from all over the world on this site and they might be able to put a finger out for you on their local sportsbike forums.

There are also a few WSB mad racers on here. They should have a look in as well.

Good luck mate!

Just thought I'd call back in to say thanks to everyone for the support of the www.motorcycle-performance-forum.com site. There has now been over 600 posts in less than the first 2 months of it's life.

Thanks to Gix11 for the positive moral support. Your a top bloke (even for a pom [:p]). Thanks buddy.
