I am after an old Yamaha DT 1970s/80s suitable, basket case prefered. Really prefer a 1976 model. Any size from 100cc to 400cc but 250 or 400 prefered.

my plans are to put twin disc front and single rear. had a 79 DT 400 mono shock in early 80's with xs 650 special front end and rear wheel (drum brake). The pic is a 76 XT 500 that was kitted to 650, had clip ons, and kawa 900 front end. This is the type of thing I want to build.

There is a Warrant Officer at work who rides (almost daily) an immaculate XT500.

Oh that brings back fond memories! The only bike I ever bought brand new was a '81 XT500 (before they went ugly with the 550) $1,900 on road from Kevin Fraser in the Gong, yep, he was the Honda dealer (had a young guy named Gardner working for him at the time too) was cheaper than the Yam dealer (Kevin Cass) could do it for me. I loved that bike! It would wheelie all day and night too.
Damnit! now you've got me all melancholy and wanting another one.

I brought my new from cassie for $1350,00. Hey nudie from 78-79 I worked at centrestand and gardner was sponsered by geoff sim at the time. Had 79-82 off. 82-84 I was working at frazer's in the gong, with david frazer who is now at albion park.

Cant remember how much Cassie wanted but was surprised that Frazer could do it cheaper (probably had no intention of doing warranty work I 'spose lol).
Yeh i've got stuff from all of those guys over the years so probably crossed paths at some stage I guess.
