The Spondon has always been a bitch to get into neutral, especially when stopped, and has been quite juddery when engaging. As a bonus, when I pulled into my driveway after NFR it jammed in 3rd gear.

I thought I might be up for a big gearbox job, but when I pulled the clutch out I found 4 of the 9 fibre plates had delaminated.

I don't know if these are stock plates or aftermarket, but I've never seen them go like this before.

Ive put a new set of plates in and it changes gear nicely and even goes into neutral (up & down) when stopped!

Just need to take the cover off again to find out why it's leaking[V]

i think i know the problem, you used it on the 'normal cycle' not the 'gentle cycle' like it tells you in the operators manual [:o)]

i've seen genuine yamaha plates do it, and heaps of cheap aftermarket ones. When you have been frying the clutch it overheats the plate and causes the bonding agant to go soft. But the truth be known it's Jacktars fault really.

Only done that once.

Bump starting a Kat, plates were aftermarket "SAMSON" brand and
worked well up to that point, although they were a few years old.

Bump started it down my drive, motor popped and banged and snatched
a little, bike started but no clutch. Plates came out looking like yours.

nice find. My gs didnt turn over one morning when I hit the starter. I pulled the clutch lever and went to roll it, the back wheel was locked solid, the clutch plates had made their way into the gearbox.
