Does any body know what to use in a petrol tank to get rid of light rust in a tank that has been sitting around empty for quite a while.And not eat the paint work if it happend to get sum on it.!!

mate most bike shops carry sealer kits for fuel tanks and it come with a product for cleaning out the rust cant remember what is called but try your local bike shop and they can help you out

try a product called lannox. spray into tank, rotate and tip, leave for a day, rinse with petrol and away you go.

I recently put one of these kits through, cleaned some light (very light) rust, and sealed a hole... Great stuff!

Be very careful though, I don't think there is anything that WON'T fuck your paint if you spill it...

I used this stuff on my tank after it had been sitting outside for a few years and worked a treat, just wish I had taken before and after photo's. Got it from supercheap for a whole 18 bucks

try some shit called tank cream....i think. i used it on one of my bike's mate....you'll hate it no end when you use it,it's like pulling the gut's out off a beast though it's nose with a pair of plier's ! mine took a week but i stripped the membrain out and started again from scratch,if it's not that bad drop down to to the hard ware store and get some rust converter and pour it into the tank...flush with water and check it out...wash the tank with petrol to remove any water and bob's ya uncle.....failing that your in for the tank cream which is the worst job in the world but work's really well. my tank was so bad it was filling the fuel filter with rust....all good now mate. round $80 buck's

Gelcoat cleaner from septone does a reasonable job on light rust.
