subframe s for definate, have to deciede what seatunit to use, wanted to change the tank but its grown on me (hopefully thers not to much rust, still will need to get some discs and 4 pot brakes.
Calk I rember the blue and silver when they came out and it was the only colour I would have got :D (although I have always been a blue and silver fan). Will have to deciede if I am going to redo the motor or get another one, needs rings and one sleeve (watermarked)
that I have seen but I havnt mic'ed up hte crank or bores yet.

hey chalk, they are a great bike... my mate Kork Ballingtonwas a works rider for kawasaki when they launched the RX1000 at nuerberg ring and he was tellng me that kawasaki had a load of 900s there to show the press how much better the 1000 was compared to the 900. Only problem was the press were all on the 900 and the 1000s were left standing because the 9 handled so well although the 1000 had more power. The brass from Kawasaki told Kork that he had to get on the RX and put in a quick lap to prove that the 1000 was a better bike before the launch was a disaster. Which he did although he recons that it ate rear tyres so teh couldnt warm the tyres and could only do 3 fast laps before the rear tyre was toast. Day 2 of the launch, no 900s lol

And it still keeps up with the best of'em today

Ain't that right Turbo?, Davo?, Rossco?

In the right hands though, of course

i do like geeps never had the 900 but have worked a couple of 750s to death
the old 900 out lived 2 of its apparent successors 1000rx and zx10 and they still made them up till the 90's i think

Up til 92' Frankie, demeand was so high that they just kept bringing them back. Only superceded by the Kat 11, which was built for 19 years (81' to 90')

another bike thats lasted well although nothing to write home about, is the old GT 550 kwak.
i dunno about anywhere else but in Britian it ran from 85 right up to about 99/2000
every despatch firm in the country ran the bloody things ,ive seen one with 150000 miles on it all city miles too
we only got the big kat for a couple of years, till the mid eighties it still is a mean lookin bike even now

Honda Blackbird is another bike that's been around for about 10 years virtually unchanged. I think it was the highest selling sportstourer this year as well.

After 85' the Kat11's were primarily for domestic (Japan) consumption, and specific o/s orders only.

The GPz9 was driven almost purely by orders from Europe.

Availability of the 550 Kwak ran for a simlar period here (as well as the 750 version), but I think orders declined to next to nothing by the mid 90's. We don't have the courier companies like London.

they knocked the 750 on the head after about 5years
then the industry was looking for something to replace the aging cx s everybody and his dog had
i was somewhat unusual early on as far as i was concerned if it had two wheels id work it
