Which is Lamer ?

Saw two things that amused me on the way home tonight.

1. A guy on a scooter in full gear... and I mean FULL gear top to tail all very new and expensive looking. Remember its 43c in Adelaide today.

2. A young kid (18-20) on a R1 in shorts, singlet and yes you guessed it thongs. Bike was a brand spanking 09R1 in black.

So which is Lamer ? [8D]

Maybe they got confused and accidentally swapped bikes..............

Thats a hard question, the only justifiable excuse for buying a scooter is when all your mates do the same and they are strictly used for paddock races in the pit bike fashion.

So riding one on the streets as a serious commuter is lame and in full gear is just plain laughable, atleast he is safety concious.


On the other hand, riding anything in traffic without gear, except for a bicycle, is just idiotic, the kid will learn the painfull way.

I wouldn't want to be either of them, but it their decision.

Situation 1: How lame will the guy feel if he has an off at freeway speeds and his leathers save his life?

Situation 2: How lame will the guy feel if he has an off at freeway speeds while the bitumen is sanding the flesh off his skeleton?

I apologise for being graphic but reality sucks sometimes. Ask any serious stunter/racer/long distance rider whether or not they consider the safety aspects and weigh them up against the risks they take and I guarentee you that it outweighs any "lame" factor.

2 is lamer. When I see a guy on a scooter in full gear I assume that he also has a big wheel bike and the scooter is just a commuter. Either he's learned the hard way that good gear saves skin or he's very studious.

yup 43C, not 42 the numbers so big that i cant print it correctly [8)] i wouldnt wear any protection, even a helmet when its above +20C and i dont think that r1 bloke was riding faster than the scooter in the city, 50 or 60 kph?? on the other hand, 50 kph is enough to fly about 15m in the air and hit anything that u r lucky to hit (in my case it was freshly dug gutter for a curbstone, and my bike hit the huge concrete block id flown over, just 2m behind me [xx(], 6 ys ago)
