wellll ...its all together brake lines done, [funny aint it ive made up a few lines in the last couple of weeks and forgot to do mine !], major dramas with the tank tho its in primer for the third time ....,ive airbrushed the tail but looks like i wont have time to do the tank ,and as its got ..lumps i dont really wanna.
aftr the afr im gonna get the base colour done by "someone who knows what their doing ".
front guard is horrendous as well[repco sold me some acrylic that is SHITE..comes out like water full of airbubbles ]..im seriuosly fed up with rubbing down bloody paint...
so ill polish whats there clear coat it and wait till my seat units made then take the lot to a good painter for some pukka paint..
it runs .its all good it makes all the right noises but..as i STILL AINT GOT ME SEAT BACK YET MR UPHOLSTERER.
i havent actually ridden it yet ,
the tachos a bit optimistic according to the suzy tacho my bike revs right up to 13 grand ..and i know it doesnt [not without blowing up ].
pics will follow

When the carbs are in place and the fuel is running out of them give the float bowls
a wack with the handle of a screw driver.

Because youve had the carbs out the floats go all the way down and get stuck in that position
I used to have the same trouble with my race bike every time i re fueled it after a time sitting around
and it also was a rooler door so it works a treat.;)

16-04-2007, 01:03 AM
i like a cross between the two. I dont like the tail on the second one, its too bulky, but the second bike definately looks more muscular. The black one is super clean, classic lines, love the spoked wheels but it needs lower bars. im still out on the tail on that one as well.man those vfr rims are nice, i love 5spoke wheels.

second ones an 1100motor isnt it?

shift1313
16-04-2007, 01:10 AM
looking at the second bike a bit more, if you just got the seat and seat cowl from the cb1100r and not used any of the rest of the tail it would look pretty trick. that back is just too thick without a fairing or upper on it somewhere.

damo1
16-04-2007, 07:56 AM
There both very nice [:0]

Id go the bottom bike but ive got a soft spot for 1100r,s[:p]

Either way you go there,ll look sweet mate;)

Jockney Rebel
16-04-2007, 05:43 PM
yeah the second one is an 1100 and i do like the clean lines of the first one i think that the bulges for the shocks make the seat unit look big if i could get round that itd slim the rear down a bit
im definately going for a twin shock ally swing arm....in a nutshell i reckon the bottom one has the most appeal for me with a few mods ...but i do like them spoked wheels there different and really old school

HueyonaBlade
16-04-2007, 06:05 PM
Is it possible to fab up some mounts to have a mono shock? Prob solved:D

Jockney Rebel
16-04-2007, 08:00 PM

but i do like the twin set up ..

unfortunately i appear to have blown a head gasket
i think this due to the fact my left boot is now totally waterproof and i now own a very heavy 450cc twin ill find out on sun when i test her

Jockney Rebel
22-07-2007, 11:29 PM
..right then heads off the old engine and its ..well bad really No 3 piston looks like its been dipped in acid[V] and the head where the gasket meets is worn too but strangley enough the other 3 pots look ok
the exhaust cams knackered and so's the journals,[V]
Bought another engine for 400 sovs which apprently has a good top end.... got that on sun last ... when it arrived it looked like some gorilla hd taken the stator off with a crowbar !! [big digs out of the cases ]
i did a compression test on it [after bolting it down to a frame i made] and i got 25 psi across the board not really inspiring considering the factory reckons 170 psi is the norm but i wont know the score till i get the top end down.
could be just gummed up rings ..or more bent valves..
to be fair the bloke from the wreckers ,whos pretty decent, said that if the heads junk he ll sort me something else out
..im starting to think along the lines of an engine swop ..maybe a cbx 750 lump , or something from an aircooled kwak or suzi
id welcome any[ sensible] suggestions:D

Jockney Rebel
23-07-2007, 07:09 PM

Jockney Rebel
01-08-2007, 09:08 PM

Sounds good Jim, hows the enthusiasm going with the Triumph standing there looking at you? lol:DHave you located the parts that you need?
I was looking on this site http://cb1100f.net/ there is a post on fitting a turbo to one and apparently they recon that even Std the rods are week as and the mill is pretty weak.If you dont have the parts already it might be a good idea to just score the Gixxer motor straight off.
Have a look at this thread:-
http://cb1100f.net/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=30423

alfiestorm

or a gixxer 1100 lump in the baldy whore when the honda engine shits it's self but you do realise that sod law dictates that the baldy engine will defy all reasoning and keep going even with total neglet just like the old cd175's they were bastards to kill

gibbo
01-08-2007, 10:05 PM
Hey Franky, I am looking into buying a damaged bandit with the view of banging the motor into my slingy (750), just trying to work out the numbers, what would you be prepared to pay for a complete 750?

Jockney Rebel
02-08-2007, 12:02 AM
dunno gibbo[ christ another bike in the garage ] depends on the finances as always... why what u have in mind ?
if ur on about going dutch on a bike and sharing the parts i may well be into that

Alf u know uve just jinxed this now if it dont blow up this lump... how am i going convince the treasurer that [yet] another engine is neccesary ?

Dave if i turboed this the first thing over the line would be me closely followed by several used Honda parts ive got 2 engines in bits on the bench i know these engines were pretty grenade-like when they were new ..now the youngest ones are 27 years old so im gonna have to find an engine that will give me
1.. 100BHP stock
2 fit in the frame without looking too wierd
3 be common enuf to be able to get bits for
4 and reliable
ive started to build up one good engine out of the bits [various] in fact just tonight i started lappin the exhaust valves in
