I'm doing a GSXR front end swap on my 96 600 bandit, from what i have read, the 92-95ish front ends are a clean swap. i went to swap the forks today and the 94 GSXR 750 headstem is 20mm too short...

the forks:

the head length on the bike:

the two tripples and stems, the Bandit is on the left and the gsxr is on the right

my first thought was just to swap stems until i looked at the bandit stem...

it's welded to the lower tripple...

i either need to find a longer GSXR stem or see if i can cut the bandit stem out...
my question is, does anyone know what the stem lenghts are of teh various years of GSXR's? if i can find one the right lenght, i'll just swap it into the GSXR tripple i have.
During the week, i'll see if i can get the bandit stem out...

the bike as it sits...

I would have said press out the old head stem and use it in the new triples, but since you can't it's off to the wreckers to find a second handy which will fit...

why dont u just grind off the weld on the bandit shaft , press it into the gsxr lower and build up a bit of weld on the base of the shaft so it doesnt pull right through.

my f4i shaft was welded into my lower tripple i just ground off the weld pressed it out and hey presto. with the help of ben that is

may sound silly but maybe a stem from a early CB900 Bol 'dor, can be pressed out and will fit the GSXR lower.....well did on my 88 triples tho the top clamp will need reaming

The spacer is about 10mm
