Found plenty of info about cars.. certain ages, can't be available here domestically, etc..

What's the deal with bikes?

So many cheap bikes there, and their economy going down the shitter is making it VERY affordable for us..

yes well you can import bikes from the US, it just gets a bit involved, i brought in a 1994 GSXR750 race bike but the saga was that i had to declare that it would never see the road, you can bring them in easliy as parts, it frame wheels motor bodywork all seperate, but otherwise it is a real mess to get a late model bike in. pre 1988 i think it is a heap easier..... got more to say on it if you want

Hrm.. what about buying one minus frame, and getting everything else off the bike sent over as a crate of parts? Should be easy enough to buy a trick bike, buy a frame from the same base here, and do it that way?

Why ? Is it really that much cheaper ?

Yeah, that would work fine if you could live with the fiddle factor. You can still buy the frame which would make the process a lot easier (save stripping everything off it in the US and working out how to put it back together here). As long as the engine's out and the wheels off you should be fine calling it 'parts'.

????
Whats my question got to do with it ?
A few bits that are gonna cost me a small fortune in postage compared to the hassles of a complete bike ??

Yeah it's a LOT cheaper over there. I'm looking at putting a 'busa fighter together, and you can get one there in fine condition with the usual bits and pieces for $3-4k for an 00-02. Shipping I can probably get a deal through one of work's clients if I pull some strings. Just worried about legalities. Getting it sent here just as a misc crate of crap would be the best option I guess.. then bolt it all up to a frame here.

Just playing with ideas :)

I wanted to bring back a couple of V Rods when I was in the states in July but when I checked on the website it was far too hard as a complete bike, the only way is to separate all the bits.

6-8k for a 06-07 V Rod

The Road Kings were around 10-12k for an absolute stunner low k's.

If you don't believe me check out US e-bay.
