Quicky for anyone in the engineering world...
Can I buy 28mm OD / 20mm ID tube off the shelf ?

Carbon steel? what you want is probably 20mm nb Sch 80? or maybe 100.

Yes off the shelf can be done but you'll have to go shopping...

Can you bulk up the inside with another tube Russ?

I bought 28/24 {from memory} cromo tube for the kart quite easily.

Check the drag magazines for chassis builders and go from there

The mob that used to be Assab Steel at Marayong had 1.120" OD , 20mm ID hollow bar when I was there 6 months ago. They are called Bohler - Something(can't remember the last bit of the name) and have national stores in most capital citiies from what I was told .

Try this mob, they are more helpful than Bohler, and will do smaller minimum quantities.

Just dont expect a nice finish on either the OD or ID with hollow bar or line pipe

Just spoke to a very nice lady at Interlloy..
They do 20mm id / 30mm od.
Guaranteed accurate sizing.
