About to remove the clip ons and put some risers and bars on. The bike is an 89 model. What sort of effect is dropping the tubes into the yokes going to have and how far do you suggest as the adjuster seem to come up a long way.

dropping the forks through is gunna make it turn heaps better but will make it unstable at high speed it will be fine for everyday stuff

hang on a minute i think i have answered that backwards mate do you mean you want the forks to come up past the top clamp if so then what i have stated is correct ........

when you say dropping the forks into the yokes do you mean that there will be less fork protruding from the top yoke? If so this will slow the steering down and will raise the ride hight at the front.I'm not to sure how this will affect the high speed stability but i can't see it making it any worse.

Btw you should never listen to a man in a mankini

Yeah bringing the yokes up the tubes so I have some clearance for my bars. From what I can make out it is only going to extend the trail a small amount which should make it more stable at higher speed. I think.

Dropping the forks means bringing the legs up through the top yoke...hence you 'drop' the front of the bike lower to the ground...rocket science...

I found that it made my bike more stable. Especialy with the wider bars. Before I did the conversion I got a steering damper (after a nasty tankslapper incident) but never needed it. The dampers still sitting on the shelf.
