Hey All, just got my GSXR1100 back together and running, but have cooked the battery. I've replaced it with a new one but the multimeter is reading about 18v when the bike is running. I'm thinking the rectifier is prob fkd but before forkin out the cash for a new one thought it best to pick the brains of you lot... any suggestions appreciated.

I think the regulator on these is internal, so a bit stuck with options if it's fkd sadly.. unless someone has ever rigged up an external one in line??

Check the rest of your electrics as well, over-volting is sometimes the cause of ignition failures.

its either the regulator or one or two bad exciter diodes. I believe all of this is internal in the alternator

If as I believe, the regulator and exciter diodes are internal in the alternator then easiet option is to replace alternator.

Check all the connections on the charging circuit, I replaced the regulator on mine only to find it was still overcharging.
culprit was a burnt connector (just glad the bke didn't catch fire)

could you leave it in and use a supercrap one on the wire in between?
