As I am having the head worked on I will need to replace all the valve guide oil seals.
Question is...
Are the Viton seals on ebay better or worse than genuine ?

Genuine Yam ones are about $10 each...and its a 16 valve head...
or I search ebay for genuine FJ1200 ones....same seals

Sharky the only seals I insist on using genuine are Rear and Front Main Crank or cam seals otherwise I am happy to use aftermarket.

A similar example, I spent many years as an Engine Reconditioner rebuilding Caterpillar engines amongst others and you could buy a Valve Guide from Cat at $25ea or buy a guide from IPD who actually manufactured the guides for Cat under license at $8ea.

Same Product. Not saying your e-bay seals are the same but you get what I mean/

Cheers Hagarrrr..
I actually got a result...All FJ1100/1200/XJR valve guide seals are the same and I found 18 genuine yam ones on ebay usa that I got for US$3.50 each....works out at AU$85 inc postage to my door....almost half the cost from the local Yamaha dealer.

No worries

You have to wonder about our "Local" dealers and how well they look after us (not!) if you can buy the same product half way around the world at half the price, one of my pet complaints for years thatour local industry has been ripping us off for years.

To right mate....
To date I have saved about $300 on my 4-2 downpipes (Germany), $250 on the BMW headlight(UK) and $80 on the seals(USA)....and this includes adding the freight costs to the totals..
This might be the best country to live...but jeez do we get charged for the priviledge...
