Chris AKA Hooligan came off just past the robertson pie shop today.
Hes in livo hospital with a broken tib and fib in 3 places and is going in for surgery tomorrow to have a rod and screws inserted.

He'll be in hospital for a week but hes otherwise ok and in good sprits and in typical ASF fashion asked for photos while high on drugs and being attended to by ambos.

The gixxer was pretty mangled and will be parted out more to follow on that with pics to follow.

P.S.
The bastard got a ride in a helicopter

Hey guys, it's Chris' missus Mish. Just wanted to say thank you to you all for your messages, I've written them all down to take to Chris today (will be a nice way for him to come out of surgery). He's doing really well considering and hoping he'll be home by the end of the week. Between Weasel and Ross and I, we'll keep you posted on how he's doing. And a BIG thank you to Weasel and Ross and the boys on the ride yesterday for everything, just goes to show again what a great bunch of blokes the members of ASF are (promise I won't tell anyone ;p).

Bad news Chris, let's hope it's a fairly straightforward pin/plate job & you're back at 100% soon.
I'm really hoping the Gix is repairable too.
Poor Mish, nobody wants to hear their partner has hurt themselves & to add insult to injury, now you've gotta fetch his beers while he lies on the couch for the next 6-8 weeks ;)
All the best for a quick recovery mate.

Oh yeah, X rays or it never happened.

Ah shit, no good Chris.
My brother was on the first bike to pull up there. A couple of people where tending to you, one sounded like a nurse asking all sorts of questions and on the phone to the ambo's. So he went and moved bits of cycle of the road while another guy tried to slow traffic down.
Here's to a speedy recovery.

Sorry Fimp, I don't have any nurse's outfits in my repertoire, and not sure if a cheerleader outfit necessarily suits the occasion... You would think after the number of hospital admissions he's had recently that I would've thought to buy one before now ;)

Thanks for the well wishes though dude, and to everyone still sending their thoughts. Chris is really appreciative. He's doing much better - he lost a bit of blood in surgery so spent yesterday replacing it - and did him a world of good. He's still gotta have an MRI done at some stage to check for potential damage to his knee, so fingers crossed there's nothing for them to see.

Chris will make it :) but I dunno bout the bike :( Its in our garage atm, and looking at it makes me shudder. Rosco and Weasel went to Bowral to retrieve the bike in that dust storm... its a but dusty! :P

Chris broke his Tibia, Fibula and Femur (all clean breaks) and needed a blood transfusion after his surgery. Poor fucker, but that leg is legendary now... the BIGGEST bruise i have ever seen ;)

Weasel and I went in to see him the other day and he was looking good, but a bit bruised! Mish is doing good too, and built in babysitters are helping with Lily :)

I think most of the bruisng come from when the beat the crap out of the rod to slid it into your bone, cause i had HUGE bruising the full length of the leg when i did my leg in [xx(]

wicked, lot of trauma to the tissues when they have to stick shit in/on bones. Causes all the swelling and bruising. Those dressings on Chris' knee are the shit. Pretty new and have holes in so you can see the wound to check how its going without removing the dressing. Can't believe noone thought to put holes in them before! I coulda been RICH!

Hi boys, got home a few hours ago.

Thanks to everyone for all the messages, it was great to read them when I came out of surgery. Broke 3 bones in my leg, have 3 rods and screws in them all (all done on Mon 21/9). Had surgery on my knee on Sun 2/10 which went well, now got another 80 odd staples from mid thigh to mid calf...

Pics to follow (and I'll sort the bike out later).

about 40 to get to the apartment, and another 15 inside the place. when I got inside, it felt like my heart was gonna explode out my chest. Apparently lying in a bed for 2 and a half weeks ruins your fitness.

Regarding WTF happened, I really don't know. I was in the middle of the 5 of us, not pushing too hard, road was smooth, road was bumpy, then I'm on the side of the road, under the armco. I think I slid straight into one of the pylons, hitting the pylon with my right leg. If I hadn't hit the pylon, I'd have shot off down a hill, or worse, I could have hit head first.
I took my own belt off, and put it round my leg as a tourniquet (i saw some blood, and the unnatural angle of my leg, and thought it'd be a good idea. one of my mates (thanks skoota), who got there first, helped to pull it tight. He was also the only one to see my leg facing the wrong way,and my femur sticking out. A first aid officer who happened to be driving past pulled my leg straight before weasel and ross got there.

Watto
09-10-2009, 11:15 AM
those armco's are hard eh Hooli?

I hit one a few years back and snapped the femur myself - couple of ops and 44cm of metal goodness from hip to knee has got me back on the legs although the foot is not entirely straight (bloody registrars playing surgeons)

hope you have a speedy recovery mate
